I'm building on several other posters' ideas. So bear with me.
I think that there are 4 groups of people on the island.
1. Survivors of Flight 815
2. Dharma Initiative Employees
3. The Others
4. Miscellaneous other crash victims
We know the survivors of 815 so they don't need explanation. The Dharma Initiative Employees are the ones that took Walt and are still conducting experiements. The Others are the original subjects and descendants of the Dharma experiements on the island. The miscellaneous other crash victims(MOCV) are just that. They are incidentals. They are the people were unfortunate enough to end up on the island by accident, and are the broken eggs in the omelet.
Danielle and here research team were MOCV. Ethan and Goodwin were Dharma Employees. And we have yet to really see the Others.
That's my germ of an idea built on others. Talk amongst yourselves.
