Jay,
I emailed you the other day but I am sure it got lost in the madness....no pune intended.
Because of you two I wish to develop my own Podcast and was wondering what hosting company you guys use for your website?? I registered with godaddy and bought there podcasting kit but it SUCKS! There doesn't seem to be a way to add text without adding a podcast which isn't good because it will function as a news site of sorts. Also the templates they have are all really bad looking (All 9 of them).
Anyway, keep up the good work guys.

Hey, if you want to host a website, try startlogic.com or even simply starting with blogger (blogspot.com) because you can always move over to your own domain later and have it redirect (the new blogger is pretty good). If you want a server to host your podcast, try Switchpod.com or Libsyn.com. I'm sure there's tons of others, but those are the ones I know of. I'm sure Jay will give you plenty of advice, but figured I'd give you some stuff to check out in the meantime!

Wow, that's great Colleen thanks for the response, I have been useing blogspot now for a little while basically as training wheels for what I want to do now but I really liked the ease of how blogspot worked but sadley you can not add audio. If I use the redirect feature on blogspot would I be able to add audio to it then??? I also noticed thas J&J use wordpress.com but when I go there I can't use my own domain name(Which I just purchased) but instead it's formatted much like google's blogspot.
Anyway Colleen, thanks alot for responding to my post and I hope it's as nice where you are as it is here in NC.
Edit: For freudian slip type misspellings

Jay used to use Audioblog.com but it got too expensive, and I believe his current is Feedburner.com unless he moved it again.
And about your problem with adding audio to blogspot, you can indeed. MOST podcast servers will offer an option POST TO MY BLOG/WEBSITE click that, enter your blog URL and a description of the podcast and it will put it up on you page.
It's really easy.
And easier if you use an iMac cuz they're awesome.

Thanks Sawyer. I have been looking closer and have noticed that it appears that they are using www.hipcast.com now because if you look on there front page very closely in the audio link it says hipcast.com, I could be wrong. Then under closer expection I see that they may be using wordpress then fowarding there site to there registered domain for 15 a year. Of course all this could be completely wrong and I could be full of it. I have noticed that godaddy has a cheaper podcast option then hipcast though if Jay is intrested. Thanks for all the help so far guys, keep it coming cause I am still trying to figure this out and any help or knowledge would help. Oh, and I am a Windows guy Don't kill me.

I'm a windows gal myself and we use the audio from Odeo.com to post the audio for our podcast on Blogspot. I think I've seen other sites (like J&J.com) use Hipcast, but I think you have to pay a small fee for that; The only thing about Odeo is that it takes a few days for the audio feed to appear on the site. Feedburners really good for catching feeds though, I use it.
I use wordpress for a website I do at work and it's really easy. I came on after the site was already up & running, but I can totally ask someone what they did if you want. Just let me know.

Colleen,
That would be awsome! After further examination I am almost positive that this is how Jay is doing his website and audio and I totally want to use what he is doing as a template to my project.
Thanks yet again for the input Colleen & Sawyer, I'll make sure to pm you the results when they get on-line.

Hey i use different programs, and hosts for the podcast. The blog itself is hosted by Dreamhost.com and I use Wordpress for the actual blog. To host the AAC feed I use Feedburner.com its free, simple, and easy to use. This is just the feed itself the actual audio files are hosted else were As for File hosting I am currently using 3 different services. First is Hipcast.com (formerly Audioblog.com) their rates aren't that bad as long as you get unlimited bandwidth. (Back when we first started they didn't have this option, and it ended costing us hundreds of dollars a month) Now i use Hipcast.com primarily for the cool player that you see on the site, and the mp3 feeds at the Original mp3 Feed, and the LPN. After we spent wayyy to much money at Audioblog (now its fine ) I started using Libsyn.com which is a really simple, not too expensive, do it yourself, podcast host which was really nice since Hipcast.com doesnt give you a lot of freedom compared to the Libsyn.com system. Our hosting at Libsyn.com is now backup to the last Host we use which is... Switchpod.com, a very similar hosting solution to Libsyn (in fact they are owned by the same company now) is what I use now as our main host. The only problem is that the company is still young and they have their growing pains from time to time, thus that is why I still have Libsyn as the back up. Why use Swicthpod then? Well first they have given us free hosting, and a lot of free space to boot. They also offer free podcasing plans that are nice if you want to try podcasting out, but the amount of space they give you for free wont last long, but their rates are really nice compared to other podcasting hosts. So there you have it the three different, all worthy podcast hosts it just comes down to which one is right for you. I couldn't decide so I use them all

Parrish,
Did you still want me to find out about Word Press for you? Sorry for the delay; I was at work half day yesterday & off today for a wake/funeral so I didn't get a chance to ask someone, but I can do it tomorrow if you want!

Collen....
I'm sorry it took so long....Life got in the way of my entertainment lately. I hope...I am sorry about your loss.
If you could that would be great, I have yet to have time to get all this together but I am hoping I can start in a week or two.... I am hoping after I get started it won't take so much time to do.
