Starting one at least. I originally brought it up as a bit of a joke, since it was right after I had first listened to Jay & Jack, and he was actually really enthusiastic about it. We've been discussing it for awhile, but I figured its time to come to the experts.
We're both fifteen so we figured with The Transmission gone and MYOKOM w/ SaS tentatively gone, we could hop on to the LOST podcasting scene and maybe provide a new and original perspective to the show. That doesn't necessarily mean we're going to have half-witted, immature theories or anything though, don't get me wrong.
So basically I had originally figured that it wouldn't take any more than a couple mikes and some kind of audio editing program, both of which we have easy access to but I was at Barnes and Noble the other day and noticed "Podcasting for Dummies" and I looked in and there was all sorts of equipment and mixers and whatnot, which seems to be way out of our league.
I know that you've got your own recording studio (or at least I think), but is there any cheaper alternative to it? I'm looking forward to your videocast so I can get a feel for the podcasting process, and I remember there being a topic on the steps that go into podcasting a few months back, so if you could link me back to that, that would be pretty excellent.
So yeah. And a final detail: the discussion on our podcast (provided that it actually kicks off) is going to be spoiler extensive, so you might wanna stay away if that's not your thing.

Yea you can use a mixer and all of the coolest equipment but you don't really need it. What you need is some recording software a computer and a mic that will hook up to your computer. If you have a mac your in luck. Most recent macs (past couple years) Have come with Garageband which is a fine recording software program. There are simple mic cables that hook your mic directly to your mac, and that should be about it. If you have a comp you can get the mics and stuff for under $50 PC: There is Audacity audacity.sourceforge.net/ which is a great FREE recording program that will definitely work for recording podcasts. It works on both PC's and Macs and its pretty simple to use. All you need is a comp. and a mic that will hook up to your computer and that should be it. Once you get your recording done. There is the next step of publishing it. Once you get the recording stuff taken care of I'll help you with that.
