Any one else notice that Eko said that he killed the two men that were dragging him into the jungle?
So Eko was supposed to be taken by the others making him a "good person"

Eko just kills loads of people and then repents. I hope his lord is more forgiving than me, because I think he is a bad mofo.

God forgives everyone. No matter what their past is. It is not right to sin just because u know u can repent afterwards, but no sin is too great for our Lord to forgive.

also, i've never thought killing people in self defense as they're dragging you into a spookey jungle is that much of a sin, least not so much as dragging some one into a spookey jungle to do weird and unknown things to them, but then eko is a fairly pious man, and i think if i killed some one i would probably feel a bit of guilt, even if i were protecting myself.
I killed a man with a trident.

I killed a man with a trident. You killed a man with a piece of Trident gum? Fascinating. You should join the rebellion, you would fit right in. Is Eko a good person? -I think he's special. I'm still not sure what Goodwin meant when he said the "good" people. I know with Santa Clause-like lists running through our heads, we tend to think of good as a behavior issue, when "good" could imply something to do with their psychic abilities. So, then the question becomes, is Eko powerful in some way we haven't seen? However, I have to wonder if he does have some insight that hasn't really been defined yet. They develop the characters secrets slowly, like Locke, and Walt, but I don't think they are the only ones. Having said that I don't believe "good" is the kind of good that brings gifts to children on Christmas... let me make a comment on his encounter with Gale. It was weird. I'm not Catholic, so I had to look up things to see if under certain circumstance someone MIGHT choose to repent to someone other than an ordained priest. "No Catholic believes that a priest simply as an individual man, however pious or learned, has power to forgive sins"- Catholic Encyclopedia. So, if I were trapped on an island alone, and knew that even a priest could not forgive me without gods consent, and I had no priest available, I think I'd skip the chain of command and go straight for the big guy. However, it seems that Eko believes that this man is one of the Others. As a child, I was taught that to obtain true redemption, you had to feel remorse, repent to god, and then apologize to the person or people you wronged, after which point, you would be redeemed. Not sure if that's a biblical principle, or some of the crap people make up for christians to follow, even though it has nothing at all to do with anything.
