Do you think the writers read the forums about the reactions viewers have to the food? For instance, we talked ad nausium about the Dharma Ranch dressing and there is Hurley with an economy size dipping away!

The Dharma Peanut Butter! Maybe they heard your Dharma Peanut Butter commercial, Jay! Next thing we see, Hurley may be using it to get close to Libby. ;D

Personally I think that he was starting to be portrayed as the totally likeable guy that everyone loved (losties and viewers). This puts a little bit of a flaw/shame back into his character, making him not so cleanly defined.
