The dictionary defines "dharma" as: Etymology: Sanskrit; akin to Latin firmus firm 1 Hinduism : an individual's duty fulfilled by observance of custom or law 2 Hinduism & Buddhism a : the basic principles of cosmic or individual existence : divine law b : conformity to one's duty and nature In addition, the logo for the Dharma Initiative is similar to the I-Ching, defined on Wikipedia as: The I Ching is the oldest of the Chinese classic texts. It describes an ancient system of cosmology and philosophy which is at the heart of Chinese cultural beliefs. The philosophy centers on the ideas of the dynamic balance of opposites, the evolution of events as a process, and acceptance of the inevitability of change. In Western cultures, the I Ching is regarded by some as simply a system of divination; many believe it expresses the wisdom and philosophy of ancient China. Oddly, the I-Ching uses a series of six numbers in it's function; I recently found an I-Ching set I received many years ago collecting dust in a closet. I attempted to "translate" the 4-8-15-16-23-42 series and came away with cryptic mentions of conflict (815 v. Others), youth (Walt, Aaron) and other "could apply to anything" items.
