In The Long Con, Sawyer says "That's like getting Ghandi to beat up his kids" to Charlie when referencing Locke's beatdown on him. It struck me as odd, almost as if Sawyer was saying "Wow, you're Locke's kid, and he beat you up"...this is a crackpot theory at best, but I did search transcripts for some "proof", and I found a line where Locke calls Charlie "son" (House of the Rising Sun: "Now, pull yourself together, son."), like he called Boone "son" (Deus Ex Machina: "Just help me up, son.") We know he's hurt and screwed around with both of them, and I think that like he drugged Boone, he drugged Charlie. Here is a connection between the two men he called "son"; the way he treats them. Anyway, thoughts are appreciated, even if you say I'm once again looking for theories where they don't exist.

I dunno, even if he was (didn't we see charlie's parents anyway?) how would Sawyer know? I think him calling charlie 'son' does more to disprove the boone theory than anything else.

Locke is one of those guys who calls young men, "son." Nothing more to it than that. It's a regional dialect thing, but don't ask me what region.

Sawyer was simply pointing out, that Locke acting out in violence would be like Ghandi hitting his kids, or cursing up a storm. You know, something unexpected.
