While we are on the subject... My favorite funny moment from Season 1 had to do with the soundtrack. The writers had really established the convention to close each episode with an underscore and a montage of scenes showing the "state of the island" at the time. Then, in the middle of a groovy Damien rice song, Hurley's batteries run out, and they completely destroy the convention. Very funny...
Funny, but more importantly, a little nod from the writers saying, "Learn to expect the unexpected!"

I wonder why they're taking so long to introduce an official soundtrack? Surely they know it'd sell well.

Actually, an official soundtrack was just announced for a March 21st release date.
The mystical, mesmerizing and beautiful original scores for every episode of LOST have played an important role from the very beginning. A soundtrack release from LOST has become the most requested title we have ever encountered. Finally, to celebrate the continued success and acclaim of this landmark television series we are pleased to at last offer this soundtrack for the show’s millions of devoted fans.
