As we learned in Season 1 when Joanna was drowning, Charlie said that he couldn't swim. Even if he was dreaming, what made him think he could swim? That was the first thing I thought about when he was looking at the cradle in the water. Any thoughts?

Before I learned to drive a stick-shift, I always had nightmares that someone needed me to drive them in a car with a stick, and I could not do it. I don't necessarily think you can do anything in a dream. But that is just my opinion! To me it seemed as if there was no hesitation whatsoever...he just dove in and swam.

Hmm...I personally think that it was just a dream. After all, I fly in dreams all the time.
But, to play devil's advocate (against myself), I must point out that "I can't swim" is somewhat vauge. Charlie could be a poor swimmer, sure, but I think it's safe to say that if he had the proper motavation (Aaron drifting out to sea) he might give it a go, even if he couldn't swim at all.

I also tought of this the instant he saw that baby. I even tought he would scream out:"I can't swim!" But then he didnt and just went in and started to swim very well. So i just tought, he must have learned it on the island i guess. 50 days should be enough to learn it, right? And they cant film everything that is supposed to be going on. Although "charlie learns to swim and Hurley helps him" would've been a funny episode I reccon
