Just wondering, if they've been there for 50 days, wouldn't it make sense to build some kind of more perminate shelter? they are right next to the forest, so moving trees wouldn't be too hard. and an axe could be made out of locke's knife and a nice stirdy Jesus Stick. So what's the deal w/ not building a cabin or anything better than the tarp over lashed sticks that ana was building? it seems like a temporary shelter, yet they have no reason to think that they will soon be leaving
On an unrelated note, just curious as to how cold it gets in the south pacific, anybody know? because they're coming close to november (plane crashed on Sept 22), and Im wondering if we can expect cold weather on the 3rd season.

They could have a whole teepee village if they wanted. I definitely agree with you. I think that by now they should have like, log cabins all over the place.

Really --- look at the fancy digs the castaways on Gilligan' s Island had -- and there were only 7 of them to work on them.

They probably should have invented electricity on the island and whatnot too since they have had so much free time not building boats, running from monsters, working to get in the hatch, working inside the hatch, dealing with the others, etc... I agree that there are people who are deadweight on the island that don't do anything and aren't a big part of the plot. They could have been building teepees. In their defense though, many of them have moved a couple times, so they don't have a permanant place to live yet. Maybe they will start building not boat stuff soon.

I think the main reason they haven't started building a cabin is that mentally, it's an admission that they don't think they're going to be rescued. Most of them are still living on the beach, probably waiting for that ship or plane to come over the horizon.

I still say they could build some better structures, on the beach if they think they're gonna be rescued. There was a big discussion on the show about it last season, when Jack wanted to move to the caves.

True, they have been busy. But there's some 30 people right (i don't remember how many have died exactly, there were 48 in the beggining) so with 1 person pushing the button, they have plenty to spare for the 2 (michael and jin) who built the boat, and jack/sawyer/kate going off exploring every few weeks. The other ppl really need to start doing something. and i agree, with what you said about them addmitting that they might not be rescued, but if it's going to be cold soon they'll need shelter. and it won't hurt to have a nice cabin to live in until they get rescued right? lol nice comment about gilligan's island, they better get started. Michael's a construction guy, too bad he went Solid Snake style :-(

Well considering the rough area would be close to the equator, most nights wouldnt be very cold at all. When i visited Hawaii i managed to pass out on the hotel balcony and was quite comfortable for the night. So they should be right.
