I was thinking about visions of Walt and his communications, and after re-watching a couple of eps it sort of struck a chord with me. I did some digging in my old DVD titles (thank God I'm a John Carpenter completist) and came across Prince of Darkness.
Anyone else see this? Looking back, it's sort of schlocky; it came out in 1987, and it focused on a group of university science students who come to a church in downtown L.A. to research some strange findings in the building; as the movie progresses the church comes under seige from possessed homeless people and it turns out the spirit of Satan is trapped in a cylinder in the church basement, having been kept in possession of the Vatican for centuries.
OK, a little corny. But the part I remember was the heroes of the film kept having visions sent from the future, very difficult to hear, a warning, with the message ending "you are receiving this transmission from the year one-nine-nine-" and then the person would wake up.
Not much to go on here, but I do remember there was a half-assed scientific explanation for the ability to send message back through time. I can't remember it, so I'll pop in the DVD and see what it was.
If Walt is in the future, it would make an explanation for how much taller than his dad he's going to be when he wakes up.
(I also remembered this film because the church is now a theatre, the East-West Players, and when I went to LA a few years back Daniel Dae Kim was going to appear in a play there. )
