How many seasons are in Losts contract? Has there ever been any word of how long this show will be on the air?

Seasons don't go by contracts; the producers of each show are informed by the network every offseason as to whether or not their shows will be returning (unless there are special cases, which there ALWAYS are, I'm sure). That said, I believe the Lost people have said they've got it mapped out for at least 7-8 seasons. I'm sure if it doesn't go that far they'll come up with some way to wrap it all up.

Wow. I'm excited that this great show will still be on, but on the other hand I am bugged that in 5 years we will still be talking about this show.

True, but by then we'll be talking about something completely different, and we'll look back on this and wonder how we ever got through it all!
Of course the cast might be COMPLETELY different by then as well...

i thought the producers said that the first 5 yrs were mapped to begin with.... not 7 or 8???
