Was the guy who kicked Eko as he was trying to get on the plane meaning to betray him or to actually "save" him? I couldn't tell from the way the whole thing was portrayed.

I like to think he was actually saving him. I base this conclusion mostly on how the emotions played out on his face. To me it didnt look like he was angry or deceitful, but rather frustrated and mayb not too happy with what he was about to do, just before he kicked him. Mayb he overheard what Eko's brother said (was it Yummy or something?) and believed it.. *exalts grayson. Welcome on the boards * *edit: dude! just rewatched the ep, and i think i will need to reeavluate my opinion. He might've pushed him out off the plane, for other reasons then saving him. The convo of Eko with his bro in the church, and Eko saying his henchmen would burn down the church and he couldn't help it, made it look like he wasnt in total control and that they would obey him blindly. So i think his bro knew they would kill him (not that they would crash) so he wanted to save him. But ofcourse by pushing him out of the plane, he was saved from the crash. bottomline: i'm lost.

I don't know. Maybe there is a weight limit. However, if that is all there is to it, I could see gold tooth just dumping Eko's brother on the tarmac. Of course, Eko probably would not get on the plane then either.
If gold tooth was just being greedy and ruthless, why take the wounded brother?

Good point. Didn't make much sense.

When I first watched the ep, I automatically assumed that the gold tooth guy was betraying him. Maybe cause he figured there wasn't enough time to help Eko onto the plane. Maybe he wanted the drug money for himself? I don't know... Anyways, tt wasn't until I checked other message boards that it occured to me that he could have had good intentions. *shrug*

I agree...He was betraying him...
$1,000,000 divided by 2 = $500,000 each. $1,000,000 divided by 1 = $1,000,000 each.
simple math.

I think he was betraying him. His look was a little hard to judge, but to me he seems like he would betray eko for money before he would nobly save his life. No honor amoung theives and all that jazz. I start to believe that he was saving him, but what would he be saving him from? If he thought the plane was doomed to crash, then he would have gotten off himself, and between the plane and the twenty so men with guns i'd pick the plane. He was betraying eko, or atleast choosing his own interest over eko, and by doing he saved eko's life. Also, woo for first post.

I think Gold-Tooth's decision was on the spur of the moment. He pulled in Eko's brother, then decided to betray him. He didn't want to take the time to dump the soon-to-be-dead priest. He might have been considering it before hand, but didn't make up his mind until he saw the chance to leave him behind.
It does show a strength in Eko's character that he was able to say prayers over Gold-Tooth's body.

I think he was betraying him too. It was his facial expressions.

Yeah, I felt it was straight-out betrayal; it was becoming increasingly clear they weren't going to escape, so Goldtooth booted Eko to make his getaway. Yemi was either already dead or about to die anyway, so he didn't want to take his chances with the larger (and fiercer) Eko on board.

I rewatched that scene and I think you are right, Paul. It seems that goldtooth was quickly deciding something in his mind right then and there before he gave the nasty mean face and pushed Eko out.
