Hey guys, when shannon and boone were on the radio show Loveline, I remember one of them saying that they aren't told what's going to happen in the future with the show, and that all they know is that it's going to be 7 seasons. So has anyone heard anything official on how long the show will last? 7 years seems like a long time for a mystery to be drug out.

We talked about this a while ago, and we were thinking 4 or 5 seasons is long enough, cause they're gonna run out of stuff if it goes on forever!

Four or five season seems to be about right, but from what I've read, the writer's have enough material to span over six seasons.

true. If they start running out of idead, they might add some completely farfetched ideas in a fwe years and just ruin the plot. hopefully theyll leave us wanting more

I dunno. There's a whole lot of things to be explained, and four to five seasons seems extremely easy to pull off, if they keep at the pace they've been going so far in the series. Here's what still needs to be explained. Some of which can't even be explained in a single episode (like the numbers):
THE MONSTER, the numbers (that's a given), each of the character's individual flashbacks (including the tailies), where the Black Rock came from, Adam and Eve, the black and white stones, THE OTHERS, everything that's needed to be known about Dharma, Hanso Foundation explained, the DeGroots, Dr. Candle, and Alvar Hanso, Rousseau's daughter, Ethan and Nathan (falls into the Others), who was Kelvin, Desmond's whereabouts, the other four hatches, the radio tower that Rousseau mentions often has yet to be seen, why the plane crashed, drugrunners (this one's gonna be explained soon, I think), polar bears, etc.
I probably left out some, but either way. That's a massive list.
But what we all need to keep in mind is that the final say on when the series ends isn't up to the writer's. It's up to ABC. As a network, they're obligated to milk the cash cow for all it's worth, and Lost is one fat cow to milk. I like to hope that ABC won't meddle with when the series will end, but you never know.

I know, I just don't want it to lose people and get cancelled! My worst nightmare!

My husband refuses to watch the show. He says it has X-Files black oil written all over it (a show I did suck him into). As long as he doesn't bother me while I'm watching!

I'm really torn between wanting the show to go on forever, and wanting it to come to a nice clean ending. I also really think that no matter how it ends and how everything is explained, we won't be satisfied. We spend all this time theorizing and discussing it so no real explanation will do it for us.
But yeah, I think I read or heard somewhere that the shows creators will end it when it needs to be ended and wno't drag it on just to make more money for the network...which is good...
