Hi everyone,
I am brand spanking new around here so please forgive me if this has been mentioned already.
I noticed something after re-watching an early episode from season 1:
When Jack suggests burning the bodies, Kate sides with Sayid in being reluctant to do so. "But they're people." I think is what she says.
Why then, does she think nothing of blowing up her house, essentially burning her biological father to death?
Is it because he isn't a "person"? And in fact... er, something else?
I can see how she would think of him as less than human because of the way he treated her mom, but still...
It always kind of seemed like an odd thing to say: "But they're people."
You can understand why Sayid would have a problem with it, because he had religious concerns, but Kate?
Well, that's my first post. Hope it's not too lame. ;D

Hey, welcome!
Kate thought a gas explosion would look like an accident and her mom would collect on insurance. Seems so naive and definitely "amateur hour", but that's we we have to go on.

She hated her biological father so much that she killed him in a fit of passion without thinking about the 'person' he really was.

There's more to learn about Kate...Hopefully it will happen this season, but maybe not.

Going back to the producers quote of "We took The Stand and put in on an Island," I certainly hope Kate is not the character parallel to TrashCan Man. UGH!
