what do you guys think about all of the extra people on lost that they never show?
there are about 40 people out there that they have barely touched upon. i'd like to see more of them developed or at least see them hangin out in the background more often.
i completely agree with what heyes was saying about Arzt in the favorite scene thread. i was totally psyched that they were bringing this guy into the bigger picture... and then they blowed him up. (which i'll admit was pretty cool, but wouldn't it have been cooler if they did it to a more developed character)

Meh. I don't really care about any of the other survivors, honestly, but I wouldn't mind some more interaction with them; e.g. Arzt tagging along to the Black Rock. I thought it was excellent how the writers threw in that whole thing with Arzt complaining about how there are other people that survived and that Jack and co. aren't the only ones are who of any use, which was obviously a joke about how they never show any of the other survivors.

One possible problem they could get into if they show too much of the other survivors is that we might want to know about them, too. Talk about your quagmire!

The extras are only really used for three things: 1) Random characters 2)Atmoshpere 3)Cannon fodder

I wouldn't mind seeing a few recurring extras, as long as they're well-written. I'm thinking of people like Profaci on the old Law and Order.

How 'bout for comic relief? Like the hypochondriac guy with the hives? They could show a few people, keep it superficial, and get away with it I suppose.

It's so funny, you always know who's gonna die, just like Star Trek. But do they cast the same extras or are there different people in each episode? Cause we'd never be able to tell or keep track of who's who other than the main people.

I got the impression it is the same people. The producers talked about some of the extras on one of their podcasts or DVD. I can't remember where. They kept talking about this one guy who is really wild.

Cool. Imagine if you got to be an extra, just sit on the beach in the background and just walk around nothing serious, but get to work with all the stars!

I'm not a big fan of the extras....I like the "meat and potatoes". I'd personally rather see more of Charlie and Claire and Jack and Kate and Saywer and Sayid and those guys instead of Libby or some red shirt we haven't been introduced to yet.

Those are all my favorite characters, so I agree.
