yes and no,
i'm not suggesting the magnetic poles of the earth are reversed, i am saying that station 3's magnetic poles are setup as poles which are positioned opposite to that of the earth's, such that the interaction between the earth's magnetism and the bunker's force creates such a phenomenon. if the poles of the bunker are arranged the same as the earth's, then all that nonsense with the space-time warp is something to talk about. thats why we push the button.

That would explain why Sayid says, "Either this compass is wrong, or North has moved." Do you think Dharma did that as part of their research? And pushing the button maintains it? Cool.

I could see Sayid figuring out the whole thing and trying to explain it to the people. "It is like Stephen Hawking, the famous physicist, talked about. . ."
Hurley: "Dude, whatever you say."
Jin: "Uh-duhs?"

As far as i know from reading Hawking, the only theoretically possible way to make a wormhole would be to somehow lassoo a black hole, on a figurative rope, and swing it round and round so quickly that it creates a spacetime vortex, like a whirlpool or bathwater draining away. Even then, it would take an infinite amount of energy to maintain for long enough to go through.
I don't mean to piss on your theory or anything, but I just find that too much of a stretch for even secret scientific research to be able to pull off. I liked some of the rest of it though. There must be a snake bunker somewhere.... there must!

I see the censor let you type in "piss" but it won't allow "roosterpit." Weird.
