So...this idiot forgot about Week 1. I will join in on the silliness--I mean fun --this week.

I agree JLSK. If you have never read Stephen King's The Dark Tower, STOP READING, SPOILERS! Once Roland finally gets to the top of the Tower, he opens the door and realizes as soon as he opens it that he has done this entire journey many, many times. He lands where the series begins, without remembering what had happened the time before. But something is different this time: he has the Horn of Eld, a valuable keepsake from his home, Gilead. This signifies that maybe this time it WILL be different for Roland.
I think this will be similar to Lost; they will never remember their previous loops, but soon enough, enough has changed that maybe they can break this loop. Maybe exploding Jughead was their Horn of Eld?

They are both EXCELLENT choices, and are my favorite books. I recommend you read both because there are some great tie-ins from The Stand to The Dark Tower and vice versa, as well as many other King works, like Salem's Lot and It.
As far as what you're in for, I don't think you'll fully understand the scope of it until you read the Tower series (if you haven't already). Nonetheless, great books all around!

The explanation would be "The Bloody Snow Globe" if you will. What keeps the island unseen from the rest of the world - call it a dome - also messes with time dilations and the way that white light is defracted - kind of like a prism. .
Or a Faraday Cage? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Faraday_cageMaybe it's some strange, Earth-made one, which would make the light not "scatter right" because it's hitting this cage and scattering instead of coming in direct beams.

So is this on for next year too? Since I'll be on my own next year, I'm definately down for coming! I've looked it up, it won't be too long of a drive...only 12 hours

Finished Slaughterhouse-Five and loved it! Had to write a comparison/contrast essay and decided to do it on Billy Pilgrim and Desmond Hume.
Still to read: 1984, On Writing, Watchmen, Inside Out: A Personal History of Pink Floyd

Oh and I have a question. what dharma station had a bunch of TV monitors for observing the island, it's not the pearl station cause from this station they show the other end of the vacuum tube that the "observers" in the Pearl Station send their journals through but this station shows a big pile of discarded tubes. Is this station the same as the one that was portrayed in last nights episode. anyone know what episode that station was first introduced? I'd like to look at some screencaps and compare the two stations. It was the flame I believe. Both the Flame and the Pearl were outside of the Sonic Fence, and when they saw Horace with the dynamite they got to Sawyer pretty quickly. I'm guessing it's a new station we haven't seen yet--"The Star", the security station? Just a guess since that was what was on all the jumpsuits.

Great Goobye episode guys, so sad but I really enjoyed the music at the end--and hearing my own voice. Anywho, I hope I can make it out to Comic Con this year to see all of you! I'm only getting a one day pass, so I got to make sure to snag one once they announce what day the Lost Panel will be.

I have a feeling the Dodgers will cave and give him an "acceptable" contract. If I was a GM, I'm not sure what I'd do, because what he did to the Red Sox last year was bush league, and I definately wouldn't want him doing that to my team. But when he's hot, there's no stopping him. It's a very sticky situation.

I know I don't post on these forums much, but I thought I'd drop by and share what I'm reading. I am currently reading The Dark Tower series by Stephen King, and it is AMAZING! King never fails to amaze me, and you can really tell the influence these books have had on Lost. I recommend you are familiar with some King works though, especially The Stand (another great one).
Next on my list: Slaughterhouse Five, Watchmen, Inside out: A Personal History of Pink Floyd

I was very upset that Chad Pennington didn't get voted for the Pro Bowl, he definately deserves it more than Favre, especially with that team which went 1-15 last season. What a job Sprano and Parcells have done down there! Too bad the stupid Bears couldn't close the deal, all they had to do was win!!!
