I am very confused about the many "Opposites" within this show, which ones will converge and which ones will be left unexplained.
The main protagonists = Jacob and the Man in Black. Jacob is dead. but I have a hunch they will converge.
We know nothing about who is aligned with the Man In Black in his battle with Jacob outside the Island. On the Island, the smoke monster is either the same as the man n black or a close ally. Smokey is responsible for many deaths, including the shipwrecked French people. Locke monster is either the Man in Black, Smokey, both or a close ally. He got Ben Linus to kill Jacob. He has succeeded or is in the process of recruiting Claire (who murdered a temple person) and is trying to recruit Sawyer and maybe others.
Jacob, on the other hand, seems to have many powerful supporters, most of whom will kill others at the drop of a hat. Jacob's supporters have no qualms about committing genocide and they will more likely kill other Jacob supporter from a rival group than anyone else.
While on the Island, Ben and Whitmore claimed to be doing Jacob's work. Yet they sent mercenaries and/or assassins to hunt down each other's men. Will these two opposites converge?
And, by the way, how did Witmore and Ben get their funding? How did Whitmore became a billionaire industrialist after leaving the island he spent so many years on. And how did Ben get such massive funding that he had refrigerators, TVs etc. on a remote Island. How did he end up with many passports, and a spy team that hooks up a link to Juliette's sister live, and cures her of cancer. How did he get his hit list of names that he gave Sayid to assassinate.
Then there is Richard Alpert, another Jacob supporter capable of genocide. I think he was involved in the mass murder of the Dharma Initiative members. Maybe he also was involved in killing Juliette's husband to get her to come to the Island. He seems to be above the direction of the Leader of the Island and always claims to do Jacob's will.
We have just been introduced to the temple people, who would have killed Hurley, Jack, etc. if Hurley hadn't produced Jacob's ankh. They probably don't take orders from Richard or the leader of the others but may do whatever Jacob desires.
Ilana and "Jacob's Bodyguards" are another group who work for Jacob and I suspect ready to kill for him.
