Star Wars tally is three good movies vs. three bad movies; Star Trek tally is six good vs. four bad. Six of One, Seven of Nine. Star Trek's many TV shows have been hit or miss, while Star Wars TV adventures have generally been good, but short and animated (the upcoming series will be CG, like the Clone Wars movie). I probably prefer Trek because I grew up on Next Gen., but my logic is thus: Star Wars takes place long ago in a galaxy far away, but Star Trek looks forward to our own future in our own galaxy. And the Enterprise is super cool. Plus, Wrath of Khan. 'Nuff said.

The thing is there's a lot of Star Trek out there that truly sucks (Enterprise, Voyager, at least half of Deep Space Nine, and I'd say maybe a third of the episodes from The Next Generation and even The Original Series). That's not a very good ratio, but for real Trekkies like me, the greatness of movies 2,3,4,6,7, and 8 and many classic episodes of TOS and TNG make it all worth while.
