Who crossed Juliet off the list?

This is probably a prop error but lets explore it


Candidate #50 is Burke - so we assume it is Juliet Burke (because most of the other names sync with those on the island).

MIL/Esau/Smokey crosses off Locke's name because he is dead.
This is also his first trip to the cave since Jacob died.

Jacob died prior to Juliet

John Locke died weeks before Jacob and Juliet

Why was Locke's name not crossed off until MIL did so and who crossed off Burke?

Kate's not dead, and her name is crossed off. Juliet must have stopped being a candidate before Jacob died.

It's possible Jacob was aware Juliet detonated the bomb in 1977 and crossed her off in 1977. Er...wouldn't it be?

I just noticed that Lostpedia updated Burke with my concern (I guess others have thought of it also or perhaps read it here)

I wrote this in another theory, but I think the list is MIB. Now that I think about it more, some of them may have been Jacob's candidates, but MIB is keeping a list of who may be eligible to be his subsitute. He's copying off Jacob's list and making a list of his own.

I think that's quite possible. It seems weird for MIL to cross off Locke's name if Jacob's not even alive anymore. Why maintain a list you don't need?

Are they candidates for both Jacob and MIL? And they both have to vie for their loyalty, ie. "recruit"?
