So...remember the guy on the island with Jacob that was talking about a 'loop hole'? [Can't remember his name right now.] I believe he is in Lock's body now - somehow. I think that because Lock was on the island, then left the island and was killed off-island, has something to do with the 'loop hole' this guy has been looking for. I think the fact that the island can 'move' in time is what enables Lock's body to be on the island the same time as this guy that is now inhabiting Lock.

Also, this guy needed Ben to kill Jacob rather than him so he would not risk being judged by the smoke monster. As least that is what he thinks. I personally think the smoke monster is smarter than that.

Wish I could remember his name...

His name was never mentioned - but he has more or less been called the Man In Black or Esau (he is Jacob's brother in the Bible) - but most have been going with Man in Black.

And I think the loophole was simply getting someone to kill Jacob for him since - for some reason - he couldn't do it himself.

I think with Locke's dead body being on the beach it's pretty safe to assume that walking/talking Locke is the Man in Black, yes.

And as Igmar said, I also think the loophole has to do with someone else needing to kill Jacob instead. It may also have to do with the leader needing to do it as they would be the only one allowed to see Jacob in the first place.
