This isn't a theory so much as a thought experiment. What if the man whom Jacob addressed in the temple was actually Locke? What would have to have occurred? - Since he is killed by Ben in 2007, the Locke who is standing in the water and later goads Ben into killing Jacob must be a a shifted-in-time Locke, one previous to his death.
- Given the above, he must have known he was going to die when he left the island and tried to get the O6 back.
- Since Jacob said "So you found your loophole" to him, either 1) He had another conversation with Locke (offscreen) where they discussed loopholes or 2) Locke must have been DWG all along, meaning, since birth.
I'm not saying I think this is true, but it is kind of interesting.

Still ends up dead on the beach, though. Just...a little later on. After I guess another time jump backwards.
So, interesting. But not perhaps the most full-proof of loopholes?

Yeah, I guess it would depend on his motivation. I think it would be the most interesting if he is Locke, and has been Locke, and is not nor never was DWG. If by driving Ben to kill Jacob he was doing the right thing. And he did it, even though he knew he was going to die. He'd end up as a hero. (Which would kill Handsome Jack ;-) )
