I have decided after much thought that after watching LOST since day one I will be leaving the show. Now stick with me; as the last season is upon us this is my last chance... to stop watching LOST, wait for the finale and then be very confused. On the LOST Initiative the girls talked about LOST virgins as I have seen every episode I have not been able to call myself that, and for this final season I will be able to experience total confusion. Of course I will DVR all the episodes to watch later on. I will also have to temporarily unsubscribe to all LOST podcast once January rolls around.
So what does everyone think? Am I crazy and out of my mind?

So wait...you're not going to watch the last season until the finale...then watch the finale...then watch the rest of the season?

Hmmm - it sounds interesting in theory, and I like the idea of total surprise, but I think it will be extremely difficult to carry out. I mean, since it will be the final season there will be a lot of coverage about Lost in places other than on podcasts. So with that in mind I hope you have a comfy rock to crawl under and wait out the season. That is, unless you have your very own cone of silence or can find out if the fortress of solitude has any vacancies.

Though I think this is a very interesting idea, I'd have to agree with Cindy. This is THE season of all Lost seasons. There will be coverage on this like you will not imagine. This is a show that surpassed all expectations for a television drama. I think that this theory is interesting and would be fun to carry out, I just think you chose the wrong time to do it. If you're experiment fails, then you will have wasted the final season of this show and you won't be able to get it back, if you had come up with this idea last season to do this with season 5, I would completely support you on this but in my opinion this is a season that shouldn't be tampered with and this is the wrong time to try out any fancy experiments. And I find it hard to believe that you will be able to stay away from all LOST news, I'm not saying you can't, I'm saying it will be extremely hard to do so.
I respect your opinion, and this experiment seems extremely interesting and would be fun to do, but I'm afraid that the time for it has passed.

Yeah...I'm gonna have to say you're crazy.
Maybe it's just me, but I still get surprised by Lost...even if I've seen every episode. And one of the best parts of Lost for me are forums like this one, and podcasts like Jay & Jack, and reading Doc Jensen at EW, etc. But those things only ever work when the episodes are airing. Watching with a community.
I say screw Lost virginity. I like a Lost orgy.

I can't become an orgy guy, you have to dress different, act different, I have to grow a mustache, and get all different kinds of robes and lotions, and a new bed spreed, new curtains, and get thick carpeting, and weirdo lighting; of course I have to get new friends, I have to get orgy friends; no I'm not ready for it. That's a Seinfeld refrence by the way for our friends over seas.

I agree with thebeetlesremian, it would have been a good idea last season. I assume, seeing as you so badly want to be a lost virgin again, that you are spoiler free. Watching the finale first would be the biggest spoiler ever, you would know all the deaths and how it ends, you would be looking out for a death every time you saw a character that you knew died, and if a character that you knew makes it to the end is put in a life threatening situation it wouldn't be tense. Personally the surprise is what makes Lost so enjoyable and is why I stay spoiler free. If you do go ahead with this then you will probably be the only person on Earth who watched the first 5 seasons, then the last ever episode, then the rest of season 6. Could be a claim to fame. [edit] thanks for explaining it was a reference to a show, I was worried and slightly disturbed for a second then...

michael - the vibe i'm getting, and i'm sure you're getting from this thread is that people don't want you do this, but like steve said, the choice is yours.

Doesn't make much sense to me, I try to experience art in the way the artists intend, but like the others say, whatever floats your island.

I understand being spoiler-free, but I don't understand skipping the whole season, then watching the final episode. Why? Just... why?

Half the fun of Lost is the theorizing during the week. I think that if I missed the episodes I would miss that the most.
