Yes, exactly, I think that everyone is a little too quick to decide here. I'm going down as saying that the four toed statue is NOT taweret.

From what I've seen of Taweret in pictures, and other ways, that DOES NOT look like it.

Was looking for a thread about the tapestry (no pun intended) and couldn't find one so I'll put my idea here. Looking at the pic of the torn tapestry got me thinking......if it was torn when Ilana&Bram got to the cabin what does that mean? Wasn't it still intact when Ben&unLocke confront Jacob? [while Ilana&co. are just outside talking to Richard about the big silver box?] It appeared that these 2 things were happening at the same time.......but maybe not.......? ideas anyone???

I can't believe that Taweret is the four-toed statue. Another link to the Egyptians!

Okay, so I have brought new evidence to the table to show that 4 Toed Statue is NOT Taweret, before I show the picture let me first remind people that the ABC Recaps and the Weird Magazine Puzzles are NOT Canon! Picture of Taweret: *Production Picture of the Art Designers model sculpture of the 4 Toed Statue: Clearly Not Similar!!

Aside from a lack of boobs and fatty tummy they're like...dead on. And Darlton already mentioned the issues they had with nudity....
So "clearly not similar" isn't exactly the word usage I'D use....

I'm very very confused. All the pics posted seem to look a lot like the statue shown, I can't see how they are dissimilar given we have only seen the side of the statue. They both have elongated jaws with sharp teeth, four toes and a lil' hat, seems pretty similar to me.

I stand corrected! I guess I've been a little bitter about this issue, but i guess now, after a little more research, my mind has changed. Thanks for your information!

OK, just look at the mouth. A hippo has four protruding teeth in the front. The Lost statue has rows of teeth like a crocodile. See in the picture I took (two posts up) of the statue of Tawaret how there are not rows of teeth all the way along the jaw? That's because Tawaret has the head of a hippo (or a lion, in which case it's wrong for a different reason.) The head of the Lost statue is clearly not a hippo or a lion, it is a crocodile.

Wow, you may have a point. A quick google search of "head of a crocodile" brought me to this page en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sobek. Reading through it I saw lots of slightly Lost relevant mentions of fertility, creator god, strenght and power. Then I got to this paragraph: Sobek's ambiguous nature led some Egyptians to believe that he was a repairer of evil that had been done, rather than a force for good in itself, for example, going to Duat to restore damage done to the dead as a result of their form of death. He was also said to call on suitable gods and goddesses required for protecting people in situation, effectively having a more distant role, nudging things along, rather than taking an active part. In this way, he was seen as a more primal god, eventually becoming regarded as an avatar of the primal god Amun, who at that time was considered the chief god. When his identity finally merged, Amun had become merged himself with Ra to become Amun-Ra, so Sobek, as an avatar of Amun-Ra, was known as Sobek-Ra. "nudging things along, rather than taking an active part"? sounds a lot like Jacob to me.

Yeah, I've been saying it's Sobek since we saw the view in the S5 Finale.

All this flip-flopping is destroying me. After reading jimmy's posts, I'm second guessing my second guessing, but looking at it from a logical point of view, of what the statues stand for, and look like, Sobek kinda seems to be my gut feeling.
