In the latest official LOST video podcast, D&C were asked about Geronimo Jackson. There was a little blurb after that about Geronimo Jackson (and maybe a couple other treats as well) going to iTunes after their song is played in an upcoming episode.

More interesting info: abctvstore.seenon.com/detail.php?p=86326Lost on March 4, 2009 Keith Strutter formed the rock band Geronimo Jackson in the mid 60s in Detroit. Gathering a solid reputation for their sold-out string of performances in local burlesque clubs, the band packed up their gear and made way to the Excelsior District of San Francisco. From there they released their first album “Magna Carta,” receiving much acclaim and star status to locals in the industry. Reported to be making their long awaited follow-up album, the band retired to Woodstock in 1972, never to be seen or heard again.

Perhaps "Woodstock" is "not quite in Portland"

I have to admit, this whole thing about Geronimo Jackson is worrying me. It's not just that D&C are treating it like a total goof by insisting they were a real band, but that any scenes with a bunch of "hippies" caught up in the Dharma Initiative have real shark-jumping potential. Don't get me wrong, I'm a big fan of the San Francisco music scene of the seventies and happily stood in the rain at Grateful Dead concerts for a chance to see hear those incredible double drummer solos, but television never deals with this stuff as anything but caricatures and jokes. And I just can't see that working out well in a Lost context.

I'm not too worried about this Geronimo Jackson thing. I'm pretty excited about it actually.

It's not just that D&C are treating it like a total goof by insisting they were a real band, but that any scenes with a bunch of "hippies" caught up in the Dharma Initiative have real shark-jumping potential. . Remember many of the brightest scholars in the colleges those days were into research and were still a little bit 'hippy'. Most really good musicians that I know are very educated and would fit right in with Dharma, especially if they lived back in the 70's. The top four fiddlers I know 1) petro chemical engineer 2) Cornell educated tropical disease researcher 3) rocket fuel researcher for the military and 4) PHD in soil science. Music is talent + math + creativity. I think that the band actually adds some reality and fun to the show. If a con man from the future being head of security of Dharma isn 't jumping the shark, then I don't think that a band would be. Now if the grateful dead that have passed away became alive again after crashing on the island (call the episode: The man from Tennesee Jed)...then maybe that would be jumping the shark! ;D

Ha ha, just heard on the Lost Initiative podcast that the characters in that scene near the beginning of La Fleur all had names referencing The Greatful Dead.

I really like the song, it is very 70s and smooth. I wonder who is really singing it. And if there will be a full length album out.

So cool Even if it is a hype, it's still good.......I mean, I grew up in Detroit in that era and listened to a lot of underground radio---never heard of them----the song does sound Greatful Dead-ish .....what a good fit!!! Just another example of "the inter-connectedness of the whole universe" Douglas Adams----"Dirk Gently-Holistic Detective"

The original is by The Donkeys, and it's called "Excelsior Lady"...they're based out of San Diego, but I don't know if they are the ones singing the LOST version (sounds like a different voice though) or if they would do a full length. www.myspace.com/thedonkeys <-- the song is playing on there
