I'm going to take the eligibility test right now. I'm kinda nervous. I passed and registered. Question on the registration card. What was up with the default birthday as July 17, 1978? I thought it was only me seeing that! My birthday is July 17, 1976, kinda freaked me out. Thought they were spywaring me or something and kinda messed up the date. Wierd. No way! Really? That's insanely cool. But actually, it would freak me out a little bit... I did some googling of that date and nothing relevant (as of yet) came up. No birthdays. No events. No nothing. The only possibly famous thing, is that it was the beginning of the 21st Olympics in Montreal So the theory it's the date of the Chang video is probably right.

The default is also on female. Could that be a clue that there was a baby born 30 years ago that was a girl? Okay, maybe I am shoving Charlotte to fit that description but she sounds pretty certain that the island is where she was born. That could also explain Daniel Faraday's(sp) creepy attachment to her--because he knew her when she was a little baby and possibly promised her soon-to-be-dead Dharma parents that he would look after her?
Also I am thoroughly puzzled that I can't find anything out about this: When I am on the homepage to the ARG after signing in and all that jazz- if I just sit there, the logo starts going all static-y and the center starts flashing jumbled letters and numbers. Any insight on that?

Anagram Time? There's one section that stays longer: hmoesiniitneda
Same letters, they just jumble around each time, so thats just one of the sequences that i got.
Here are the 3 anagrams that i thought could be something if it were an anagram:
time in adhesion (or, in time adhesion) (I really like this one) mention his idea the minions idea
so im guessing the game is getting set to begin since this is the something new.
also, has anyone noticed where it says "wifeid" in the source page? does this have to do with the preset gender and birthdate?

Anybody else get the new e-mail?

Got the new email. The final paragraph is weird and I'm not sure whether to take it seriously. If anyone hasn't seen the email, I'll put it in spoilers below: ATTENTION ALL RECRUITS RE: SECURITY BREACH AT COMIC-CON 2008
As many of you may be aware there have been a number of security breaches in recent days related to the nature of the Dharma Initiative's latest research.
Apart from the leak of a sensitive internal communication there was also the unauthorized release of confidential video documentation during a sponsored panel discussion with the makers of the TV show "LOST" at Comic-Con 2008 in San Diego. Consequently, the person responsible for this breach, a promising recruit by the name of Dan Bronson, has been expelled from the volunteer program and had his Dharma Initiative membership permanently revoked. Furthermore, the Dharma Initiative has withdrawn their sponsorship from "LOST".
The Dharma Initiative must stress that the video material leaked at Comic-Con 2008 was viewed entirely out of context. Furthermore, the way in which the material was presented utterly distorted its significance and credibility as scientific data.
The Dharma Initiative is extremely disappointed with this outcome and has ordered a security audit of all departments. As part of this audit the DharmaWantsYou recruiting website will undergo a security upgrade in the next few days.
Upon completion of this upgrade a date will be announced for the official commencement of Volunteer Assessments.
All recruits are reminded that the unauthorized release of confidential information pertaining to the details of your activities within the Dharma Initiative will result in instant dismissal from the volunteer program.
Namaste. Hans Van Eeghen Head of Recruiting The Dharma Initiative
I have a feeling that the email is just a cover up for the fact they are starting so late. Anyone else agree?

I have a feeling that the email is just a cover up for the fact they are starting so late. Anyone else agree? I was thinking the same thing. Also, I find it weird that DHARMA is referring to LOST as if they've never heard of it, yet they are in the actual show.

They don't say they've never heard of it; they say they're pulling their sponsorship of it.

The site now says:
CURRENTLY CONDUCTING SECURITY UPGRADE
To me that sounds like another excuse for lateness? Maybe?

I think ABC/Hoodlum had absolutely no idea of how many people would be participating in this new ARG and got caught unprepared. And that's dumb considering the commercial was shown during the finale, when any and every LOST fan would be watching. And now, they're playing catch up. Why do I think so?
-Late email notifications from DHARMA -Not receiving email notifications from DHARMA -DHARMA Booth at Comic-Con was swamped. -Bluetooth video problems. -Late launch of dharmawantsyou.com -On launch, site was slow or unreachable for more than a day
I'm hoping that they're just adding capacity or somehow making the ARG better. I think Carleton & Damon said at Comic-Con that they and the other writers are involved in this project. I'm hoping that that means we'll have something with depth and something that fun to participate in.
The alternative is that it's been two weeks now and all we have to show for the ARG is a couple emails, the Chang video, & a single 5 minute placement test. Yawn.

I'm personally kind of glad the game isn't eating my life.

Haha, I agree with you Manilaraf. I really hope the ARG gets into gear soon. I'm glad that it's not, like Monsterjester said, eating my life, but gosh! Very minor updates isn't that great! Also, I think the ARG is kind of sloppy.. either that or LOST fans just really know how to figure out a website and such. On lostoctagonglobalrecruiting.blogspot.com/ , they've got people who have figured out when the site is being updated with new things, how many tests there might be, and uncovered emails before they were sent out. I know we'd look at website source codes and such in previous ARGs, but the Blogspot site has totally shown how the DharmaWantsYou site is like an open book.

Hm, that takes the fun out of it a little bit, no?

Indeed; like in the other Lost ARGs, really specific information was never found out before the official release for it. I don't know why it's going on in this case, but yeah, it does take the fun out of it.
Mm, I haven't been reading the details on the blogspot I linked to in the previous post. Just skimming and reading titles of posts.

Mm, I didn't mean to insinuate that you were ruining the fun btw...After reading I realized it seemed that way...sowwy.
OT: I was looking at your little bear icon and was struck with that thought that they better clear up what happened to those kids or I will have a coronary...Perhaps they will clear it up in the ARG......[/salvaging this post]
