sorrycharlie, I hope you haven't left, yet. We just got back. If you buy your tickets online for the Statue and Ellis Island, make sure you get 'monument access' if you want to go into the base of the Statue. Also, reserving them online means you don't have to wait in the really long security line, but only a short while since there is a reserved tickets entrance www.statuecruises.com. Also, we were able to buy tickets to Chazz Palminteri's one-man show A Bronx Tale about an hour before the start on Saturday night. Balcony seats were $27 and they were actually pretty decent. It's at the Walter Kerr Theatre on West 48th St. Have fun! We're actually waiting in the Hartsfield-Jackson Airport in Atlanta right now. We missed our flight but the Delta representative gave us tickets for the next flight out for free! ;D We have to wait four and a half hours but that's completely acceptable for a free chance to get out the same night. I'm super exhausted right now, though. Anyway, thanks for the tips alyk. I was just going to see if there is a good spot still available for tomorrow on the Statue and Ellis Island tour. I'll keep you all updated! Oh, yeah, and I'm freaking out because we're supposed to be leaving from NY on Saturday morning to go to Brazil and my passport with visa still hasn't come in through the mail yet. I hope it comes tomorrow so my dad can send it overnight to our hotel room.

Sorry I just re-checked this thread now. Let me know if you need any more advice!! My mom, the hermit, was saying things like "Stay out of Queens and the Bronx and don't talk to anyone on the subway." What do you think about that?

If you end up taking a cab anywhere make sure you listen to the sound when the driving is printing the receipt. Lost used it as a noise for the smoke monster. I enjoyed it every time I was in a cab when I visited NYC.

Oh yeah! I forgot about that. Thanks, Blaw! I don't know if we'll ride a cab, just because of the expense. We'll probably just take the subway, but maybe we'll take a cab once just for the experience.

My mom, the hermit, was saying things like "Stay out of Queens and the Bronx and don't talk to anyone on the subway." What do you think about that? I live in Astoria, Queens and it's quite nice where I am. Parts of Queens aren't so nice, but the northern part where I live is referred to as the "Park Slope of Queens" (Park Slope is the 'hip' young area of Brooklyn). I really like it here.

We've definitely decided to do the Statue of Liberty tour. The whole shebang. My only question is, should we get it with the audio? Is it worth it? I noticed they have some sort of podcast as well. www.statuecruises.com/podcasts.aspx Are the podcasts the same as the audio with the tours? I could just bring my iPod, if that's the case.

Oh yeah! I'm in Brazil now and we've been doing a LOT of stuff, so I forgot about this thread. Anyway, I had a great time in New York. We couldn't go to Ellis Island or Liberty Island because of the snow, but we did ride the ferry boat to Staten Island and back. We also went to Times Square, Corner Bistro, Ground Zero and rode the subway a LOT. We didn't get to do a lot of things but it was just an awesome experience being in New York. One guy who's been living in New York for a while even told me I looked and sounded like a New Yorker. ;D How was your stay?

Ours was fun. My husband was obsessed with seeing the Nintendo World Store. We actually managed to work in a play. We're going to try and go back sometime soon.
