Ok so anyone who listened to the Ramblecast entitled "The High Road" heard Jay and Jack talk about how they saw Little Miss Sunshine and how it made them think of horrible experiences they had as a family in the car. I thought this would be a great thread to start cause I know that I have horror stories from when I was young with my family. Here’s my story: Every Easter and Thanksgiving we would travel to Long Island to my Aunt and Uncle’s house and every single time that we would travel back home we would get lost. Every single time it was a struggle to read the signs and turn the right way. One time we got so lost it took us like 3 hours to get home, when it should only be like a 1 hour car ride. (Those times still haunt me and perhaps maybe this is why I am really good with directions today) What’s your story?

My experience wasn't exactly horrible, but it was memorable. When I was 12 years old, my mom and dad decided to go camping and canoeing in Missouri for our summer vacation. (we lived in Indiana) So we packed into our old, trusty van and headed for St. Louis. However, my dad had other plans and decided to drive to Colorado. My mom had no idea he had planned this and was very upset when he passed our exit and wouldn't turn around. Haha, we laugh about now. Anyway, it was probably our best family vacation.

This is just a story my Mom told us. She was in a horrible traffic jam and she had heard that there was some kind of short cut only residents would know. So when she saw a couple of cars leaving the freeway she followed them.
It got really foggy and she had no idea anymore where she was. She just followed the lights of the car in front of her .. hoping it would bring her back to civilization. She almost drove into it when it would stop. The driver came to her and said "Uh .. *I* live here ... you're now on my private estate." ;D

lol, that must have been reaaly embarassing. my dad's a pretty big car freak and he took joyride's around the block when he was 12. and one other thing: my dad has to get a ticket on every single one of our family vacations in the continental US. he;s usually a pretty good driver. it started back in '98. we were on our way from salt lake to yellowstone and they have those 2 lane freeways with nobody on 'em. he took the car up to 90 ands we got pulled over. we didnt go anywhere in 99. we went to canada in ''00. we went to indonesia in '01. but in '02 we were going up to yellowstone again on the same highway we were on the previous time. we see a car get pulled over at the exact same spot as we were last time. that was the only year that he didnt get a ticket. didnt go anywhere in 03 but in 04 we were in new york and got pulled over by t he most bitter cop i've ever seen for making a right turn into the wrong lane. '05 he got a speeding ticket when we were in boston. and in '06 we went to indonesia again. sry for the long post, i dont really want to do my homework

well this don't got much 2 do with a car but here is my story: well 2 years ago on my familys road trip 2 indiana, me and my whole family AND MY DOG got into the car. i didn't like being crunched 2gether, but when i complained 2 my dad he just sayed "this is extrem family bonding!" so we r driving, and we stop at this gas station located in senic nowhere, and when we get back in the car, about 25-30 min. go bye, and we all relize that my dogs not in the car! well it took us another 20 min. to find a way to turn around! so we get back and we go looking every where, but we can't find her. my sis go's and sits back in the car and finds our dog in the trunk, under the back seat! it was crazy.

Haha, you guys go on long trips. The longest I've been in a car with my family is about 5 hours to Arizona. And, well, it's not really a car story, but one year my stepsister dropped her cell phone in a gas station toilet. we waited for like 45 mins to try and get it out. we did.
