I know there are a few creatives on here that operate on macs, and I have a question so I thought I would open a thread incase anyone has future mac questions
alright, I just upgraded from a g4 tower to a macbook pro, and I was trying to install creative suite 2 on it but it just kept spitting out the disk, I am assuming its because it cant operate with the intel chip so I looked to see if CS2 was universal and couldnt get my answer
I guess what I want to know is: will creative sweet 2 operate on an intel based mac or do I have to wait for CS3?
thanks in advance fellow apple users!

Yes, Adobe CS2 will run on an Intel-based Mac. It'll just be much slower than it should be. Intel Macs can run (I'm pretty sure) any non-Universal software, but it'll be slower.
I don't think Adobe is releasing a specifically Universal version until CS3. And CS2 isn't wicked old, so it may be a while.
Why it's spitting out your disk I couldn't say off hand, though. Sorry. Are you getting any kind of error message, or does it just spit it out?
Also try looking at the MacCast forum: forum.maccast.com.

It might be the computer, about two weeks after I got my iBook my disc drive did the same thing. Any disc I put in would make a funny noise and then spit out. I got it replaced and it's worked fine since.

but its not every disk, I installed the applecare disk, and my hp printer disk, I tryed my copy of CS and it wouldnt work so my mom (a graphic designer) brought home CS2 from work and it did the same thing so I assume its just photoshop. I really hope it isnt the drive cause this thing is only 4 days old. I hope it doesnt do this when I put final cut 5.1 on here, thats universal I'm pretty sure

Ah, the spinning Beach Ball of Death. It is possible your drive might be bad, but it might just be something off in your settings that won't allow you to launch an install program. Have you tried Old Reliable (turning the computer off for a while, crossing your fingers, spinning in 18 counterclockwise circles, then rebooting)? If that doesn't work, see if you have Quicktime 7.1 installed. Apparently, there's a problem installing CS2 on Intel Macbooks if you have Quicktime 7.1, and you need to downgrade to a lower version of Quicktime. You can get that off Apple's web site, and they have pretty good forums there too. Here's something I found online about this: www.portfoliofaq.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=6270&sid=88e4c93bae7daa55a2ba2a79bd63e392

well I went to the mac store and they couldnt figure it out, which really helps me out. they think its because the disks I had are copies of the original, they are the schools copies and they work on the computers at school, even on my moms powerbook, but no luck on my macbook

Sorry I couldn't be more help. Those forums on Apple and MacCast should have the answer, and good luck with the MacBook.
