Here is my quick theory:
The Island is a sentient being, able to reason and think. It has chosen Locke to rid its lands of the hatches by going after the Others. They chose the form of Boone because that has made the biggest impact on Locke's life.

sorry for not explaining. I was so happy to see Boone back! He was one of my fave characters from the first season.
Do you think the Island is good, and if so, do you think it will use Locke to rid itself of the Others (which, after seeing the trailer for next episode, I think I will regretfully retract my statement that the Others are good)?
