Are you kidding? Trying to make a poll of all the Marvel Superheroes would be like trying to make a Poll of all the cars in the world... that ever existed. You might want to limit that idea to a certain set of them, but even a Favorite X-Men member or Avenger would lead to huge lists too big for a forum poll.
Then would come the sticky subject of which version of many of these characters too. Marvel has two active continuities going, with the “normal” universe and the Ultimate universe. Both have most of the same heroes, but they are quite different characters in many cases. So that would nearly double up your list right there.
I think a simple thread asking people to talk about their favorites would be better, rather than trying to make all encompassing Poll for it. Or just pick a set number of the larger names and leave an “Other” slot at the bottom for people who may like some lesser character from the universe.
Although for me, of these two I have to choose Marvel. DC has Batman, which is great, but the rest of the universe I find kind of boring. They have heroes that are far too powerful and don’t have the little lives and flaws that make Marvel so fun to read. Anything DC tries to do with that seems tagged on, where Marvel has been about the humanity of these people since the beginning.
If there was an other, however, I would have chosen that. I buy a lot of comics but only one is from either of these two companies. I mostly buy from small press publishers and other independent press comics. I am not a huge fan of the superheroes and prefer to read well-written stories that flow and have actual form and endings than just see monster of the week fight after fight that never seems to end.

I dunno too much about either of them, but I know Alex Ross. He works with both companies. I was reading a book about his work, very photorealistic, and it got me interested in comic books. I want to read some, but its like coming into yet another mythology many years in the making. Any suggestions? Which ones first got your attention? I don't know where to start. I have been reading more into some like Ghost World, Sin City, and even some Superman, which Ross so expertly paints!

Can someone sum up 5 of each (without including any x-men, I know that's marvel), I'll base my poll choice on that ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) Hey Dragavan, did you ever pick up Japanese Manga (translated)? it's something different and they got good stories too. I'm not an expert on this, but I like Bleach, Full Metal Alchemist and Naruto. They got comedy, action, tension, drama, love and those typical manga drawings. You might hate it, you might love it. Me likes.

When I was younger, I loved Marvel; Spider-Man & X-Men especially. Now I find I prefer the 'indie' publishers, e.g. Dark Horse, Vertigo, and Wildstorm, and follow specific authors instead of a certain line. Right now, Ennis and Busiek are my favourites, and I read anything by Alan Moore, of course.
One of my favourite titles, The Losers, just ended. Hopefully League of Extraordinary Gentlemen will be picked up; in the meantime, titles like Top 10 and Astro City will have to suffice.
For Marvel, about the only title I read now is Max Punisher. Ennis is terrific. I followed the Ultimate universe for a while, but found it sort of one-note. For DC, I follow the Green Arrow.

Okay, First off, The Hulk is Marvel. Second, Night Rider is not a Marvel character, I think you mean Ghost Rider (which has a movie coming soon). Marvel ComicsAvengers (which has included Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, and many others) X-Men (which I will not even begin to list all of, but you know the main ones from the movies) Spider-Man Fantastic Four (Mr. Fantastic, Invisible Girl, Human Torch, The Thing, and even She-Hulk for a while) Daredevil Silver Surfer Ghost Rider Dr. Strange Punisher Blade Or just look at the huge list: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Marvel_Comics_charactersDC ComicsJustice League of America (including all the big guns) Superman (and friends: Lois Lane, Supergirl, Superboy, etc.) Batman (and friends: Robin, Batgirl (several of them), Nightwing, Huntress, etc.) Wonder Woman The Flash Aqua Man Green Lantern Plastic Man Teen Titans (Robin, Cyborg, and many others over the years) Captain Marvel (SHAZAM) Green Arrow Marian Manhunter Or just look at the huge list: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_CD_Comics_charactersOkay, so I have worked in a comic shop for like 15 years... So I have a bit of an advantage here (even if I don’t care for the big two companies).
