Even though I think this is not a good way to chose I will make my case with the PS3. But I must say that you should not buy anything until the PS3 come out. The reason is to see which system is dominant. No not just for the console war but also for the video-format war, Blu-ray vs. HD DVD. If one of them dies, their supporting console might also fall with them. PS3= blu-ray Xbox 360= HD dvd. Even though I am a hardcore sony fan, i am still waiting until all of the dust has fallen to decide which one I am going to buy.
The PS3 will basically be a PC. You could go on the internet, be able to download movies and stuff and store them in the hard drive. The PS3 has a built-in Blu-Ray player, the Xbox 360 does not have a built-in HD DVD player. That means you don't need to buy a blu-ray player which right now costs a grand or more. You have to pay an extra $100 to get a HD DVD player for the Xbox 360. The controller will be able to do 6 degrees of movement, which i think is cool, and not a wii rip-off. The games, for me I am looking forward to Final fantasy and Metal gear.
The Wii= Nintendo=Kiddy
The Xbox 360 might be able to contend with the PS3 but only time will tell. But I despise it, the name is just a gimick, and most of the games will just come out for both systems, other than the selected few.
My Vote is for the PS3.

The Wii= Nintendo=Kiddy My Vote is for the PS3. I think the Wii is probably the most bang for your buck without getting too involved with all the fancy and even more expensive features of the PS3 and XBox. I know both Sony and XBox are choosing sides to see which ones consumers are gunna choose to go with the Blue Ray and HD DVD Discs. I think thats rather gimmicky. Do they really think people are gunna start shelling out ten to twenty more bucks for DVDs and restart their DVD collection, not to mention the cost of HD TVs. Geez! How much disposable income do they think consumers have? I think the Wii is "kiddy", but if your a diehard Nintendo fanboy like me, I'd go for it. I can't stress at how far ahead of the game Nintendo is with developing new and innovative ways to make game play more enjoyable while also gaining new demograhpic. Do you see Sony or Microsoft targeting the 45-65+ crowd? No. They are opening a new audience to gaming that is new to them but is conforming to their needs as well. Its a big hit in Japan and its only a matter of time before you see more old grandma's kicking your butt, like the one that is a Senior Contributer to MTV's G-Hole show. The games are improvements on previous games but with newer ways to make the game more fun. Yeah, the name does sound wierd....I think they should have stayed with Revolution...its just that!

How much disposable income do they think consumers have? People can still buy DVDs and be able to play them on the PS3, it can play both DVDs and Blu-ray. You don't have to buy an HD-TV to play them.

I know. But whats the point of spending another 600 dollars on that if you can do it on the PS2? The reason why Sony included the HD DVD option was to promote this as a marketing ploy for it. I really doubt that it'll work though. Still, you have to have the HD TV capability on your TV to fit the compatiblity the HD DVD discs are meant for.

People aren't just buying the PS3 just to watch movies. The PS2 is not able to play blu-ray or hd dvd. So they cant do it on the Ps2. The reason why sony included the Blu-ray drive was so it could play blu-ray games!!! The blu-ray can hold more information which means the qualities of games can be better. They are taking a risk so the games could be better, the wii and the xbox 360 are not, they are using standard dvds to make games, the same ones you play with right now.

This new patented technology is revolutionary and as they say next-gen, but all this DVD nonsense aside, your right game platforms are meant for games and the added memory should benefit Sony for their plans to make epic games. I just think Nintendo has done a better job at revolutionizing the use of a wireless controller and taking a very dynamic and intuitive way games are played. They are making gamers get off their tush for a change! Thats what sets apart the Wii from the rest. It'll be interesting to see else Sony does with this technology as well. I also should note that Nintendo is also taking a step back from the typical facelifts they give to games like Mario, Zelda, and Metroid introducing games that fully utilize the revutionary controller. There's one with a sword, I don't know the name but it looks awesome!

Yea I do have to say the Wii controller will offer something very unique. It will be interesting to see how developers will use it. But for me I am not really that interested in it that much.
Its Red Steel by the way!

Its Red Steel by the way! I knew it was Red...something. Thanks. Oh, the new games will definately revolve around the controller. Nintendo is focused on gameplay enjoyability, always have been. Since they don't have that blue-ray technology. I wonder if Nintendo will develop something like that later...but I digress. Its taken long enough as it is for Sony to patent the Blue ray. I trust the Nintendo guinuses have a card up their sleeve.

Xbox 360- The graphics are too good to pass on and the thing is already in stores. Plus.. Halo is a legendary game..don't ruin your chances of being able to play it.

Haha look at the advertisement that showed up at the top of this page Coincidence? I think not! (Whats even funnier is thats not what the PS3 looks like, it was only a concept design.) Oh and yea another reason to buy the PS3 is because the system itself looks great! The graphics will be as good or a little better than the xbox 360. And I think Final Fantasy is pretty legendary, have you ever heard what happens to japan when one of them comes out?!
