Lake effect snow is where the snow showers move across Lake Erie or one of the other great lakes and picks up even more moisture and makes even more snow that the storm should so areas that get Lake effect get a LOT more snow than the rest of the area.
For example, the city I live in got 140 inches last year which is way more than other cities in my area.
Each year we pray for Lake Erie to freeze over because then the lake effect ends for the winter season.

You would think that we've have a huge snow plow fleet, but actually no we don't. Our roads tend to be pretty icky in the winter when there is lake effect, my hubby has to take me to work pretty often.

Nope, but he does have a 4 wheel drive Explorer that can get through most stuff. My car (a Neon) doesn't even make it out of the driveway half the winter. Thankfully we both work for the same company so we can drive in together when needed.

I can't even imagine 140 inches of snow Here in San Diego, if we want to see any snow we go to the mountains, and then it's may be a foot or so. But it can be warm here in the city and an hour away you can go and see the snow. We had a light rain most of the day yesterday, today where jack used to live it's suppose to get into the 80's. I'll be in Raleigh next week and I see it's starting to cool off a bit there, but that's really kind of a nice for a change.

I hate Ohio lol. The weather is mental...there was this Priest guy who was visiting and said he had never experienced so much weather in a day.
Hey, Bev, did you ever get to meet handsome Jack?
