American Idol Season 7

What? No American Idol thread? Isn't it popular anylonger?
I gotta admit, I didn't quite follow the previous installments, and didn't catch this one from the beginning either. But I am up to date now, and I kinda like it

Just watching episode 2 right now, and there's some hilarious people in there
But some pretty solid singers too!
There was this country boy, Drew, really friendly and charming, and it appeared he wasn't going to go thru to the next round (but then he did), and I started feeling really bad for him. His singing wasn't stellar, but he did well and his voice was ok. A little training and he might get pretty far i think.

I'm liking the show atm. Anyone else enjoying it?

Yeah. I still like it, it's just that every year is pretty much exactly the same. A lot of people sing badly, a few sing well, the good singers go to Hollywood, and the "best" *yeah right * person wins.

Though, as I mentioned, I havent seen it quite that much, so I'm liking what I see
That ryan seacrest has some funny lines sometimes too. Especially liked when he just was standing silently and awkwardly next to that enthusiastic dude with the white "king-style" cape. Pretty funny stuff (i find awkwardness to be very hilarious (the office, extras))

And there's some good singing too. It's definitly too early to say who will hit the finale, but there's allready some stars at the horizon.

And it was especially interesting to me, cause that guy looked soooo much like this 'artist' we have here in Belgium. That dude is so hilarious and over the top and freaky, but he's still popular as heck! Maybe just because he's freaky! I hear he's even big in japan

My husband has been singing it to annoy me for forcing him to watch AI. I'm sure they'll bring him in for the finale. I really like the Irish girl (I forgot her name) who closed out the show on Tuesday.

Yup, she sang really good. She's the one that got disqualified last year cause her visa didn't come thru on time. That must've been pretty harsh.
Good for her making it to Hollywood.

A similar thing happened with a man named Hok on "So You Think You Can Dance." He was only hear on a student visa in 2006, but got a working visa for 2007 and made the final 20.

Has anyone been keeping up with AI? I've caught bits and pieces - I really like David Cook ("authentic rocker guy") and Michael Johns ("the aussie") for the guys and Brook White ("the good girl") and Carly Smithson ("the irish girl").

What do y'all think about the male stripper on the show? Should they have disqualified him?

I have not watched it this year, but I have heard about it. It makes me mad because they kicked off Frenchie a few years ago, and she was good for some pics she made when she was younger. Before they had a lot of controversy and regulations.

But AI has been on for years and we have seen people get kicked off. If you knew there were these pics out there of you, why go on the show when you know they will come back to haunt you. Double edged sword if you ask me.

now that Amanda is gone its getting more difficult to pick the next one to go.

I personally dislike cook and johns and strangely enough those seem to be favs of Cowells still ( How could my simon be so wrong this season???)

I suppose depending on their choice of songs the next in line to leave would be
Kristy , Ramiele, David C. , Jason, David A. , Michael, Brooke & (the Alien)Carly and my personal finalist guess is:
Chikezie vs. Syesha, and I ´ve got a feeling he´ll outperform her despite her überprofessional skills, his first beatles song was prolly the best performance I`ve seen in all seasons so far.

I´d really like to see Ramiele take a leap in performance to keep her in the race, her voice is extremely well balanced imho.
