I have to say I'm starting to really like this show. (But then I liked Daybreak as well)
So one of the things that occurred to me over the last couple shows is that the Dan's ex-girlfriend who seems to be a time traveler like him is a huge plot point to come. I think that ultimately we will find out that her meeting him in time and helping Dan out on his missions parallels Dan tracking people and helping them with their issue.
In other words, Dan is being tracked and helped by Olivia, exactly like Dan tracks and helps others.
Also I find it interesting that Olivia seems to only have shown up prior to her "death". We've only see her in the past, and I think in time periods preceeding her "death".
So my theory? She actually is going to die at the time Dan expects and prior to her death she is tasked with one final task, to track along Dan and help him become her replacement in being a "time fixer".
