hey guys, just saw transformers today, pretty good summer sci-fi/action flick in my estimation, though i think it would have been better for me if i had been a transformers fan in my childhood (which i was not). anyway, the bigger news for us LOST fans is this: an amazing trailer came before transformers, and after some research, i have found that it is a project by JJ Abrams with the codename "Cloverfield". it is supposedly a new take on the "giant-monster-terrorizing-a-city-genre", and entirely shot with home video cameras as if from the perspective of the people living through it. the clip starts with a party at a NYC apartment, when an earthquake shuts down power, so the attendees head to the roof to check things out. they witness a huge ball of fire erupting from the manhattan skyline, accompanied by a monstrous roar. then, the head of lady liberty herself comes crashing to the street, knocking down the cameraperson, followed by screaming chaos. some more info can be found here: www.aintitcool.com/node/33104suffice it to say that it was one of the most intriguing movie trailers i have ever seen. haven't been able to find any clips of it on youtube or elsewhere, but i'm sure it will find its way online in the next few days. there was no title in the end-of-trailer credits, but it said JJ Abrams and i believe it also had a 1/18/08 release date. i am officially pumped!!!

wow, well considering all the controversy and mystery surrounding this movie, it might just be a really great one...ever since you posted this i have been trying to find some info on this movie and what every single website and article have in common is that it seems to be a "secret" movie of sorts and they were pretty much all in agreement that the name "Cloverfield" seems to just be a fake cover name for this movie...i wonder what the real name is and why the use of an alias (no pun intended) is needed...nevertheless, i cant seem to find the trailer anywhere on the internet either so when i see transformers ill definitely look out for this trailer..thanks for the heads up Exalt!

yes the whole thing had a very blair witch feel to it, and a loud scary unseen monster is just so in JJ's territory.

ok, found it on youtube, crappy sound quality, but you get the idea: www.youtube.com/watch?v=llZf7oVLlgYOnly produced by JJ, written by Drew Goddard (who has written for Buffy, Angel, Alias, and LOST!), directed by Matt Reeves. Comes out 1/18/08.

Immediately after the trailer was done I told my brother that it was the smoke monster from Lost.
But seriously the trailer was incredible. I immediately started searching for information on the movie when I got home.
Also, I Am Legend looks good.
About Transformers - I think it did justice to my second favorite childhood cartoon.

That trailer was really mysterious and almost creepy. And when it said produced by JJ Abrams, I just laughed. I don't know why I didn't see it coming because that whole thing is what he does. looks really good, can't wait to find out more information.

yea at the very beginning it had the bad robot logo, and i turned to my friend and said, "oh, that's the lost company", and then after we were like, "wow, what a perfect trailer to reel in lost fans".

I wasnt able to get near a computer since yesterday morning and I tried the link that you mentioned above and it looks like Paramount has blocked all the videos of the teaser trailer that are being shown on youtube and almost every website that i have been on!!!! except one. the link below is the only website that i was able to find with the "Cloverfield" teaser trailer. Its really not the best quality but it will have to do cause its all i can find...and this one probably wont be on for very much longer either. if anyone else finds a better quality one online let me know cause from the one i saw this looks like its gonna be great...between the monsters roars and the chaos it totally had a Lost feel to it I cant believe that i missed the opportunity to view most of the trailers! www.ropeofsilicon.com/news.php?id=6573

huh, just figured out the first EHWR puzzle, got a grainy vid clip of some guy (named van perhaps?) saying that "ethan" predicted that everything would happen, and something about needing to find others and testing them, and we only have until august first.... spooky.

Yeah the JJ preview was awesome...a great way to build the anticipation...and all the puzzles definitely give a lost experience feel to it...
I laughed at it with my fiance, though...I figured the monster would be smokey ridden and controlled by crazy Jack trying to get back to the island. Cant wait for January now(nice that this movie comes out a month before Lost returns)!
Oh yeah and Transformers was quite the awesome movie! Loved every second of it!
