So far loving it. Between this Heroes and Lost, I'm going to be happy the rest of the season...

PS I hope they don't do the "person inside CTU who has gone bad but we don't know it yet" thing - that trcik gets old after 5 times...

I'm loving the season so far. Some really crazy stuff has been happening. By the way, what's up with Milo. He's in six or seven episodes of season 1, then nothing until season 6.

I've never watched 24 but hearing that you could just pick it up, I've watched it the last two nights. I'm loving it so far, and want to watch the series from the beginning, that 5 seasons right? So little time...

I am really enjoying this season so far. And I LOVE seeing Doctor Bashir in another great role. He played an arab in Syriana as well. By the way after seeing the preview for next week's episode, I noticed I saw a few chars from the conspiracy story arc that has carried over from the past few seasons. I was happy about that. That is an intruiging storyline.

Yeah, it is good that there is some overarching tie in with some of the puppet master type folks.
Also, I have to say, I love the premise for this one and it is great so far, but I find the situation where the president gets himself into a situation where he calls an airstrike on a "terrorist" he is told by another terrorist is in an american house, with no verification, a bit far fetched. Why kill him rather than capture him? And giving all the surveillance codes for your main counter terrorist organization to another terrorist is just stupid. So, while I like the overall premise and how they've set up the show to move forward, many of the assumptions/situations they have set up in the first show or two about conditions that pre-existed the beginning of the season, just seem way unbelievable to me.

I agree that some of the plot lines in 24 seem a bit far fetched, but I think they have to push the envelope if they want to keep the audience entertained. 24 fans have become so desensitized that one nuclear bomb is not enough, we have to have five. Also, I am really interested in how the show has taken on the viewpoint of Muslim and Arab civil rights. It wasn't that long ago when the U.S. was doing the same thing to Japanese Americans. I could see how that story line could become a reality soon.

You also have to take something into consideration about the world of the show. This is not our world it takes place in (at least not any more). They have gone through some incredibly big things, both nationally and internally in the government, that we have not had to deal with in our world. They have some themes that play in the world of 24 that come from our world, but they are not the same.
Because of that, the government of 24 is a lot more willing to act against terrorists than even our real world counterpart is. For that reason I didn't take what the president authorized as being far fetched at all. Especially with that character, who has seen and been through so much personally (including the assassination of his brother). I thought it was stupid of him to do and not to listen to Jack, but I didn't think it was out of character or "reality" within the show.

I like to call the universe of 24, "hyper-reality". Not reality, not completely implausible.

Oh, I completely understand that the universe is such that significant things have happened there on domestic soil that changes the playing field.
That said, almost everything that I've found implausible specifically in this season is the president. Perhaps this is intentional to show how bad and yet sympathetic this new president is. I mean release 100 terrorist prisoners based on a single phone call from a now known terrorist that he is going to make them pay. I mean, come on, would this ever happen like this? And I love how the terrorist group can know that a satellite is being repositioned to watch them, even when it isn't an american satellite - that the US government would give all it's security codes to these people. And then a couple hours later they are following the terrorists via satallite and they have no clue.
Again, I love this show, I just think the opening set up for this season and the motivation and actions of the presidential office seems a real weak and almost implausible plot device.

Liking the show so far very much too. I agree that some stuff and actions seem a tad bit far fetched and a bit unfitting for 24-presidents (they tend not to bend down for terrorists), but then again maybe they're setting up this gullible and not so street smart president Palmer, so that he can grow threw the show and become a rock solid, steadfast and basicly a better president then he is atm. If not, his naivety might be his downfall (maybe he'll get kidnapped. Have we had that in previous 24's? Havent seen s1 of 24 i think. can't remember)

I have noticed that 24 likes to set up characters that at first seem really weak or annoying, and then throughout the season he/she does something really heroic and becomes a favorite. (Every show needs a good redemption story.) I hope this happens with the new Pres. Palmer. I also like the idea of him being kidnapped. It would be great to have a President that doesn't spend the whole season in the Oval Office or at Camp David. (or on AirForce One)

I think the season is off to a fantastic start... i really dont like the presidents advisor though. hes a bad egg i think! :-) i dont know if i trust chloe's boyfriend or whoever he is. He has always seemed kind of creepy. I think the story line for this season is good. im verrrry excited! The first four episodes where so exciting!!! the thing that i dont always like about 24 are some of the sideplots. like jacks daughter, and audrey. ok-people this is an ACTION/SUSPENSE show...jack bauer has no time for love! haha. well i just dont like audrey. he could TOTALLY find someone better. I mean what woman in her right mind doesnt love jack bauer! Hes pretty cool.

Yeah the adviser is a bit annoying. However, as with every 24 season, you never know where anyone stands except Jack and Chloe.
