I had 4200 or something like that... But my old computer broke and so I have to upload all the songs again first. Right now I just got like 300 songs on my iPod.

Wow what is with everyone having tons of songs? I have 425 and I think even that is pushing it But its 425 that I love...every single one... Know the lyrics to every one But if more is better, thats fine with me if its fine with you ;D

On the iPod, only about 3000 audio files (including podcasts, which vary a lot as they are deleted when listened to) and about 25 videos (many of them being episodes of Star Trek: New Voyages and humor from Very Tasteful Productions). Plus I back-up my projects on it as well (games, art, and writing). This is just my iPod... my actual music collection (just CDs alone) is far larger than this.
My music server computer at home has well over 25,000 audio files (including many audio books, which are usually chapter files, and the entire Billboard's Hot 100 singles collection from 1959 to 2001). I also have hundreds of videos, TV episodes, comedy specials, and more.
I am not going to lie and say each and every one of these things is my favorite and most beloved song in the world. Some of them I don't even really like, but I keep those because they are part of a collection or compellation I see no reason to break up. But when you are a music lover like me and have everything by artists like The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Prince, James Brown, Underworld, Queen, U2, and more in your collection, they can grow large rather fast.
And I usually prefer to listen to music rather than watch TV (unless Lost, Heroes, Battlestar Galactica, or House are on), so it's nice to have a lot to choose from for every mood (without dealing with repeats).

Exactly. I like so many bands with large collections of albums, and I put the whole album on my iPo. I don't see a reason to just put a few from each album on it.

How could anyone possibly fill an 80 gig iPod? I'm nearly half there. 7,347 songs (maybe 50 are duplicates from a greatest hits album and the original album), 3 episodes of TV shows and no movies.

Trust me, it's easy. I'm hoping for a 100 gig. I've currently got 15,036 songs on mine and Lost Seasons 2 & 3 with Battlestar Galactica Season 3 on mine, plus little bitty videos clips aswell as god knows how many podcasts. I've listened to ALOT of s**t in my day ;D

My iPod only lets me listen to a few songs at a time, before it freezes and i spend 15 minutes restarting it. Then it repeats. So should I spend the $150 to get it fixed, or should I just wait a few months and buy a new one?

I think it will be worth it to wait. Supposedly a new one might be coming out in September or October.
I have a modest 886 songs and 529 podcasts. If I listened to all of my podcasts straight through it would take over 20 days. Thats just crazy.
