Overall, I like it. I like the blue, and it seems to be faster on my computer... even though others are saying it is slower, I don't know. It's less glitchy than the old version for me. The only thing I was hoping for was when it went to recover album art I couldn't find it. Old itunes couldn't find it either. So I'm still bummed about that. Right now the only thing that has album art is the Official Lost Podcast.
Oh well.

How many times are you gonna die? Please, don't ask. He died about 5834085340309853045309 times when we were on AIM.

Oh well. finding album art depends on two things from what I can tell.... 1. the file/track tags...artist name (or album artist name) and album title must match for an album.....to address this...take some time and fix those file tags 2. the songs must be sold through iTunes.....it found most of my album art, but not things that you couldn't get through iTunes (i.e. Jaxon's Local Shots Volumes 1 and 2 - available at Tower Records in the Philly area) I got anal and went to cdnow.com and grabbed album art for any cds that didn't pull in...and in the case of the Jaxon's Local Shots...I went to Jaxon's website (which he created with his mac) and grabbed the artwork there

It seems to me that the majority of what it messes up with on tags are in compilations and soundtracks that include multiple artists. I don't like the default it gives them of the artist name being "Soundtrack" or "Cast" or whatever. I like each track having the actual name of who performs it. Go fig, I like accuracy in the names. It seems that changing names to these more accurate tags confuses the Apple iTunes store... and it has nothing to do with purchasing them at the store or not, most of what I have are off CDs and not through the store.
It also doesn't do well with groups that have best of albums or other compilations of their own works. It seemed to want to add other CD covers to every other song in these types of albums.
It also added non-album art to a couple tracks. Like a high-red wide image from some collection of art from the inside of the cd booklet or something instead of the album cover (didn't even have the name of the album or band on it, just the image).
All in all, the auto cover thing has a lot of issues with it, unless you exclusively buy your music though iTunes and never touch it. Don't get me wrong, I love iTunes and all it does offer, but I am not a blind Apple groupie who doesn't see faults because they made it. It has faults, just like everything else. This feature is one of them right now.

dragavan...I noticed in the tags that you can set an album artist.
for a soundtrack, I have the album artist as "various artists" while the artist for each song is who performs it. then as long as album title is right, it had no problem getting album art.
the best of thing was tough, but I found if I had the whole album and did the get album art on the whole album at once, it was okay. couple of times it messed up.
like you said, it could be improved.

Yeah, that album artist thing is fairly new and most of my songs were put in and correctly labeled before it was added. I am not going through my entire collection (nearly 20,000 tracks) and resetting them all to add an album artist to those that need it for this to work. Really not worth it. I don't think a feature like this should rely on a newly reacted tag setting, especially since when you first upgrade it asks you if you want to use the feature on all your own tracks that wouldn't have had the tags added yet. Not great planning or design.
However, once you have all the art in, the new flipping through your collection feature is just right on. That is so cool. I love the way that looks. I almost wish it had that "clack-clack" sound my CD collection has when I flip through the cases... but that would get old fast on the computer.

Most of the labels and tags or whatever are the ones that automatically popped up when I imported the CD. So I don't know what I'd change them to to get the album art. I think my itunes is just fussy.

www.cdnow.com for the album art... then just right click, get info on the song (or group of songs) then add the album art easy stuff

Good news everyone! Apple has released iTunes 7.0.1, and I've had no problems with it so far
