You've got to see The Producers, I almost fell out of my chair laughing so hard the first time I saw it. Persuasion is a Jane Austin flick and the Scarlet Pimpernel is an old "superhero" movie. SP was the original masked super hero and the whole "guy who saves the innocent" idea (it was written in the early 1900's) and I guess Superman and Batman are supposed to be based on that idea. I'm just a sucker for a good old fashioned romance (inbetween all the gun fights and building and ships blowing up from my scifi and action movies)

I don't know how anyone can really choose a top three of anything as diverse as Movies (or music or what not)... Mostly because I am so enamored with film of all kinds and love it for many different reasons, I can't imagine anyone else not being. I even love the "Bad" films for many reasons, even beyond just being fun. I love to nitpick movies (good or bad) as much as I love to enjoy the good points and stories. How can I compare them and judge them?
Best stories? Best writing? Best acting? Most fun? Most emotional? Best looking? Best direction? What?
It is impossible to make a serious list of just three as my top. As such, I will take a somewhat arbitrary sampling of what I consider good for any reason and choose the ones that at this moment I want to push forward.
Memento Dark City Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow
There, that's three for different reasons... and as a bonus, I will add one of my "guilty pleasure" movies.
Joe vs. The Volcano
Hope that works for your little listings here... ask me again in ten minutes and the list will have changed.
Also, I love how the person who started this thread says it's simple, asks for three movies, and then lists four themselves. Gave me quite a chuckle.

joe vs. the volcano is in my collection...and I agree, it's a guilty pleasure with the multi-rolled Meg Ryan
my top 3...wow, this is tough 3. Garden State 2. Closer 1. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
but seriously, any Audrey Movie, Memento, Dead Poet's Society, Primal Fear, Rain Man, Shawshank Redemption, Usual Suspects.....they're all close behind.
seriously, I wish I could submit a weekly movie pick (when the Ramblecast returns)
think Jay and Jack would go for it?
PS - I called in with the great break down of the batman vs batman vs batman as well as a rant for movies based on the classics of Audrey Hepburn, Bogart, Bergman, James Stewart, William Holden, etc...
