Fell In Love With A Girl - The White Stripes
I have been repeatedly playing this album to my little sister in order to get her out of the whole Hannah Montana/Jonas Brothers thing and into some good music...

High five Steve, I have the same problem with my little sis So far she likes "The Hardest Button to Button" and "It's True That We Love One Another," but she doesn't seem to appreciate any De Stijl songs yet... btw, any new developments with your Upcoming Shows list? you should come see the decemberists with me at the Wiltern! except I can't remember whether you like them.

Fell In Love With A Girl - The White Stripes I have been repeatedly playing this album to my little sister in order to get her out of the whole Hannah Montana/Jonas Brothers thing and into some good music... It worked for my little sis. Now she's obsessed with the Rolling Stones, among others. Don't give up, Steve! (Exalt!) And since I'm in this thread... 2wice - Mission of Burma I simply can't get enough of these guys lately.

My sister LOVES "It's True That We Love One Another" and she also really likes "Hotel Yorba". And I totally forgot to update my upcoming shows list! thanks for reminding me. I tried to get tickets to the Decemberists, but GA was sold out and the prices were too expensive for me to not get it. But I'm sure there will be other shows soon that we could go to, because that would be awesome. It worked for my little sis. Now she's obsessed with the Rolling Stones, among others. Don't give up, Steve! Matt! Where have you been?!

De Stijl is a good follow up...Death Letter, Little Bird, and Lets Build a Home for pete's sake! Where have I been...? Uni got busy, then came Japan, DC, and Marfa just last weekend...I'm still amazed at how much traveling I've done this year so far.

See, Matt, everybody misses you! It's been literally a year since you posted, now that is just a crime. *adding Mission of Burma to my list of bands to listen to... soon* XD It's Shinya from the Japanese band Dir en grey. oh right. is it true that they're all trannies? LOL, just kidding. I tried to get tickets to the Decemberists, but GA was sold out and the prices were too expensive for me to not get it. But I'm sure there will be other shows soon that we could go to, because that would be awesome. Really? Well that was quick! Show's not for more than a month... You know, my dad got two GA tickets, but he really would rather not stand the whole time (oldster..) I suggested at the beginning that he should get a seat and just get me a GA, but he refused. And now (of course) he regrets it. I suppose, if there are still seated tickets for sale, we could sell you his GA ticket and get my dad a seat instead. I'm totally just thinking of this for the first time though, so I don't wanna give you false hope or anything... Sorry man. By the way.. have you been to the Wiltern before? I'm wondering how early I should show up, I would love to be there two hours before the doors open but my parents would not be too thrilled with that. But I need to be in the VERY FRONT so that Colin can take my cell phone during Culling of the Fold! Listening to the new James Bond theme song... Jack White and Alicia Keys = same vocal range, hahaha.

And it's cool, if it happens it happens, if not then it doesn't. And yeah I've been to the Wiltern a few times... saw DJ Shadow there, The Dresden Dolls, and the Black Keys. It's an awesome venue, you'll have fun, BUT for the very front you will probably have to get there at least 2 hours before, because it does fill up quickly. I found that out the hard way the first time I went, luckily I'm tall so I could still see but for someone short it would be bad. Maybe convince your dad to go out to eat somewhere first, and then get to the venue at about 5:30 - 6 in order to be sure.

Jon Oliva's Pain and Circle II Circle, I had the privilage of meeting both bands recently. Both singers are of Savatage fame, and Jon Oliva is the co-founder of Trans-Siberian Orchestra. Amazing bands. And some of the nicest people I have everf met.

You're so lucky to live in LA. In SD there are like 5 all-ages venues with shows that are worth anything. Once you get a job + car, you'll be able to go to so many close shows, as awesome as some LA venues are I hate the 2 hour drive there for a concert.
