In the spirit of getting off topic, I personally hate slurpees all together. I want a big cup of iced tea and some home-made popcorn. Nothing more.

why home-made? .. Isn't the stuff you buy from a movie theater better?

My mom taught me how to cook the best popcorn on the planet, basically. It's simple, yet so much better than microwave stuff.

Bakersdozen, I am with you. Jean Luc Picard vs. Gandalf! Can't miss!
At our neighborhood theatre they only offer Blue Arctic Blasts, so my son has grown to like them. I like the big Dasani bottles (for $4!!!) or Diet Coke.
Homemade White popcorn cooked in canola oil with just a little salt is awesome!

And cancer-free! (If you haven't heard, some of the microwave popcorn manufacturers use a sealing agent in their packaging that causes cancer)

So how do you make your popcorn, officialben? And how do you sneak it into the theatre?

WELL IT'S INCR---ahh okay... Well, it's incredibly simple, yet tastes way better than bagged stuff. I use a tall pot with a quarter-inch layer of oil over high flame. throw in about five kernels. Wait. Wait. Wait. Okay did you hear them all pop? Yeah? Sweet. Now throw in a bunch more. Not too much, psycho, sheesh. It's a bit of a guessing game that I haven't perfected, but I've found that about a whole layer of kernels will fill the pot (like I said before, it's a big one, like something you cook stew in or something?)... I keep the lid open some to let all the steam out and periodically shake the thing around to keep the unpopped at the bottom. If the popping slows down significantly but you still hear a lot of kernels, then you need more oil! It's basically that easy. Separate into a couple large bowls and add salt and a litte butter if you prefer. Then pour yourself a tall glass of iced tea and hit play on that DVR of yours and enjoy Lost.
I don't take it to the theater. That place is madd expensive so I buy nothing. I try to catch as many free movies as possible (very easy to do in Hollywood).

I forgot. Once you throw all the kernels in, turn that sucker down to medium. Don't wanna burn any.

Ben - sounds great - my sister bought me a professional - but stove topped pop corn maker last X-mas - I made exactly - one batch - it was OK. I like your recipe much better - and the fact that you drink it with - hopefully - real iced tea made from bags - as opposed to mix - with nothing in it - but maybe some lemon and ice
