[Wow!
Karma to you just for mentioning the 40-Watt! Athens is just down the road from me![/quote]
Cliff,
I know Norcross and am lucky enough to get back to Athens once a year for a football ballgame.
Thanks for the Karma. How cool to meet someone here who knows the 40 Watt Club! Slightly funny story: I was at UGA in the mid 80's and REM was still new for the rest of the world. I went to New Orleans in 86 and they were listed on a marquee. I was like, "Huh, that's band from the 40 Watt Club." And look at them now.
Wow, makes me feel old when I realize how long ago that was. ;D

I've recently been listening to guitarists like Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, and John Petrucci.

I just recently got into Ben Folds. I'm enjoying it a buttload.
And Arctic Monkeys. I've been trying to get into them.

i dont really like the arctic monkeys, mainly because evryone else likes them and is talking about them the whole time and frankly mr shankly i'm sick of them. but i'll dance when the dj inevitably plays them at an indie club.
ben folds kicks arse, i mustve spent a good 3 weeks solid listening to songs for silverman when it came out... might listen to it now. nice 1

I've heard so much about the Arctic Monkeys, so I decided to get my hands on their album, and I'm not liking it all that much. It's like a watered down version of The Strokes with a much weirder voice. And none of the songs on their album strike me as particularly amazing. But I love The Strokes. But Ben Folds really is great. I've been getting into piano rock lately and Ben Folds really is great at what he does. I'm definitely liking Songs for Silverman more than Rockin' the Suburbs. "Late" = great. Speaking of Late, do you listen to Elliott Smith?

I've got Coheed on the brain... been listening to all 3 of their albums lately. Also anything by Lennon and some of The Postal Service (interesting sound). Of course I don't think I've gone a month since I was 13 without listening to the sweet sounds of Garcia (yes, Jerry... The Grateful Dead!)

Along the lines of Ben Folds, anyone that is a fan of William Shatner absolutely MUST listen to his newest album "Has Been". Ben Folds produced it and wrote/performed several of the songs on it and it blew me away (especially considering Shatner's first attempt was... less than spectacular). Also, Joe Jackson sings one. Can't go wrong there.
