I did hear that...
I went with Batman Begins. Christian Bale played both an awesome Batman AND and awesome Bruce Wayne. Michael Keaton did a pretty good job with both, but Kilmer and Clooney sucked. Batman Begins was artistically a much better movie than Batman.

I went with Batman Begins. Christian Bale played both an awesome Batman AND and awesome Bruce Wayne. Michael Keaton did a pretty good job with both, but Kilmer and Clooney sucked. Batman Begins was artistically a much better movie than Batman. Okay, I have to chime in here again. Keaton did do a good job as Batman. He had the dark and brooding and sense of power and intelligence down. He did NOT do a good job as Bruce Wayne. He played Wayne as somebody too dark and too much of a loner in the public eye. Bruce Wayne is the mask Batman wears when viewed by the public and Keaton played it like he was somebody people would question when the topic of “Who is Batman” would come up. Still I enjoyed the hell out of the movie, but in most ways it was not really a Batman movie. As for the others, they both sucked at playing Batman. Clooney was the worst, but Val (who is an amazing actor) was given crappy direction and did poor job of playing the Dark Knight as well. Val was the only one who seemed to be able to play Bruce Wayne right though. I will give him and that movie credit on that one point. In the public scenes where Bruce Wayne was involved and everything, he played those perfectly. Too bad the rest of the film was a neon nightmare with cartoony direction that ruined my favorite of all villains, Two-Face. Christian Bale was the first movie actor to actually get the dual role right. He was great in both parts and even the nice background story leading up to the dual role, where he was the lost wanderer, trying figure out what he was going to do. I knew he had it in him, since he pretty much played Bruce Wayne through much of American Psycho and had the cold brooding Batman part as seen in Equilibrium... We’ll all just ignore Reign of Fire, okay? Batman Begins was, by far, the best Batman movie ever and one of the best comic based movies of all time no matter what the criteria you want to rate them by.
