American Idol" sent rocker Chris Daughtry home Wednesday night, but Daughtry's fans aren't quite ready to let him go. At least one online petition, with more than 16,000 names attached, is calling for a recount of the "American Idol" votes. MSNBC.com has received numerous e-mails and bulletin board posts claiming that voters who dialed the first of Daughtry's two phone numbers were greeted by a recorded message from "Idol" singer Katharine McPhee, thanking the caller for voting for her. According to Wednesday night's show, McPhee received the second-lowest number of votes, after Daughtry. The Associated Press cited Tracey Adams, a family friend of Daughtry's, saying that fans from his North Carolina hometown were among those who heard another contestant's voice when calling for Daughtry

Wow, I hadn't heard about a potential problem with the phone lines before... I wonder if Idol will actually adress the claims? Chris should be at least in the top 3 - he definitely outperformed Katharine!

That is cool. I flipped out when Chris was sent home, but we were watching LOST, and during the commercial we changed it over to see and when they said Chris is going home tonight, I was mad!!!!!!!!!!!!

Meanwhile Chris Daughtry, whose Wednesday-night send-off left Abdul in tears on and off stage, thus far has been offered the lead-singer position on the rock band Fuel, Extra reported Thursday.

What happened to their other lead singer? Paula really is for Elliott eh? I think Elliott has a good voice and talent, but I can't really see him in music videos. Chris was the best one with the whole rock star package.

I hate that American Idol is on at the same time, the results show anyway. Just cause it takes a lot of viewers away. Hey I like A.I, but I'm not about to miss LOST over it!
