Think of a guitarist who copies classic blues guitarist's riffs and solos....there you go. Ohhhh poor poor Steve, sorry you've been so misled. Slash would be disapointed in you And as for LittleLostie17 Yes I will marry you, but you gotta get learned On the Master that is Jimmy Page I didn't say he's not good, I think he's very talented and one of my favorites. He's just not original. But I know that alot of his riffs and solos are almost exact replicas of older blues musicians. Sorry that you learned the hard way

Ha!
If you want an example of ripping off the blues see S.R.V. As for Jimmy page just ripping off blues musicians. I am sorry buddy while there are certain songs in the Zeppelin catalog that are based in the blues standard, Jimmy is far more diverse, and original than a simple Blues Clone.
All standard blues songs, follow the same format, its part of the tradition and Zeppelin and Page were no different there except that when Zeppelin did the blues it was truly moving, as the blues greats do.
The traditional Zeppelin Blues aside, I would like you to give me an earlier Blues Riff that Jimmy ripped off to make some of the classic riffs like "Whole Lotta Love", 'Immigrant Song", "The Ocean", "Dancing Days", "Achilles Last Stand', 'Kashmir", "Heart Breaker", and too many more to count
Of course His songwriting invented the Rock Ballad as we know it today with "Stairway To Heaven" Find me one song that has the scope of that before its release in 1971. There are many other Epics in his catalog as well. "10 Years Gone" (with over 16 individual Guitar tracks, unheard of in its time) "The Song Remains The Same", "The Rain Song", and many more.
His amazing ability at the Acoustic Songwriting format is also overlooked as well. "Babe I'm Gonna Leave You", "Black Mountain Side", "Friends", "Thats The Way", "Bron-Y-Aur Stomp", "The Battle of Evermore", "Going to California", and again to many more to count.
Not only was he an amazing versatile guitarist, but an amazing Producer. His mic'ing techniques gave all of the Zeppelin Records a great, deep, and Rich sound that has not been matched to his day. Songs Like "When The Levee Breaks" and all of the other Zeppelin songs are Sonic powerhouses thanks to his Producing skills that many mimic in the music industry today.
Jimmy Page's Guitarmanship was amazing because he took what the greats did before him, and invented his own standard that is truly unique and his own. His influence is so severe that every Guitarist since has shown the Influence of Jimmy Page, whether they know it or not.
Sorry that you learned the hard way, but to say Jimmy Page was unoriginal is just preposterous.

I took Acoustic guitar for 5 years (with a bad teacher unfortunately), and I've been taking classical for the last 2 years with a good teacher, and the last year on my own. I'm hoping to start taking lessons again soon, though.

Wow! Jay you rock! Thats a lot of info to "keep tucked under your belt". Very impressive. I personally don't know much about the guitar stuff as I am a violinist and prefer classical and pop music. Joshua Bell (violinist), Josh Groban (I'm sure you all know who he is) A little bit of Natasha Bedingfield (I LOVE her song Wild Horses), Chloe, Secret Garden, anything Celtic, so yeah stuff like that. That's what I'm into. Sorry if I've disappointed you my dear friend Jay. I promise to read up on Jimmy though.
