Im not sure if this is the right forum, but oh well. You'n move it.
I was listening to the podcast, and it sounds weird when Jay says Alvar Hanso. I thought it always pronounced it "Honso", tho it was spelled with an A. I checked on the site, and the intro lady says "Hanso" while Carlton says "Honso" on the commercial. What the crap, can't the Lost producers decide on a pronunciation and make it stick? This experience is so realistic with the newspaper ads and books, yet they can't decide how to pronounce the name. And you know Hanso would have a single pronunciation, cuz everybody with a weird name is all pickey about it, and dont deny it kids :-P

I think officially it is probably "HON-so," because of its nationality (Dutch? Swedish? German), but most Americans would say "Han(d)so," because we have to Americanize things.
I think the real pronunciation in full is: "Ollvar HONso"

Danish actually (or was it Swedish? Norwegian maybe?) Nonetheless, very SCANDINAVIAN. Scandinavian pronunciation of "a" is more or less "ah" to us. AHL-vahr HAHN-zo. But don't pronounce the "r" though -- well at least like we normally do.

Yeah I think it's danish. At least that's where Alvar is from. So it should be pronounced "AHLvah Hanzo"?

The name Hanso is not very Scandinavian. We have the surnames "Hansson" (some spell it "Hanson") in Sweden, and the Danish and Norwegian equivalences are "Hansen". These surnames are very common. Alvar is a name that exists (more in Finland than in Denmark, Sweden and Norway I guess), but not very common.
The way the woman on the Hanso site pronounce the name is almost as a Dane would say it. But personally I think it sounds more like a Korean or Japansese name.

It could also just be American regional pronunciation differences. A potayto/potahto thing. Heck, my grandmother says "warsh"!

haha my grandma does too. There's usually just 1 way to pronounce a name tho. Even if it's spelled the same way, a family will generally stick to one pronunciation. The last name "Hanso" may be pronounced many ways, but Alvar Hanso would most certainly have only 1 pronunciation. And generally speaking, if you mispronounce your boss' and your company's name on your own web site, that's pretty freakin bad.
I believe Candle/Wickman says Honso as well. so that's Carlton and Candle for Honso, and The Korean lady for Hanso. Any1 else we've heard say it?

Well yes, but just because it is incorrect does not mean that people don't pronounce names differently. Names with a/ah sounds in them (like Hanso/Hahnso) routinely get mispronounced.
Also the lady in the intro video on the flash site (I assume this is the Korean lady you are talking about) has a non-american accent. Again, regional pronunciations.

I'm not saying names don't get pronounced differently. But it's your boss. This is like the guy who introducing the president calling him "Gorj Boosh" over and over again for millions of people to see, and no one bothering to correct him
