Ok, I'm a little bit irked by something I just pulled off the net. I've been chewing over the use of Sublymonal for the url for the OBEY link...it's a blatent, BLATENT, sprite plug. Sprite recently launched a weird revamped ad campaign often refered to as Sublymonal adverstising "don't worry it will only affect your brain" Each ad is just a random scene that ends simply with "obey". The fact the LYMON is all caps for the title of the page appears to be a reference to lemon lime. I'm not exactly knocking the site because it dropped a HUGE clue, in fact, I'm not sure if I want to boycott Sprite for having such a gross plug in our little game or go a case because they are in fact supporting our little game. Just thought people should be aware of this as I was tortuting my brain over possible meanings of Sublymonal and OBEY. ~Chip P.S. Got my info from this site: publications.mediapost.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=Articles.showArticleHomePage&art_aid=42893

OK - not sure if anyone knows this - or not - but here goes - the circling squares that surround OBEY must be clicked using Hurley's numbers to get to the clue - 4 mouse clicks, 8 mouse clicks, etc. up to 42 - yes - my finger is tired.
the clue revealed is "HEIR APPARENT"
ANd if I remember - a few years ago SPRITE did run an ad campaign where the tag line was "Obey your thirst"

... and there were (apparently) Monster.com ads in the telephone voicemails we listened to last week. I understand the frustration over gratuitious advertising, but on the flip side... it's probably not cheap to hire to someone to develop, code and maintain the game. Gotta make money somehow. Plus it's a huge market for Sprite (and other advertisers) because they have a captive and very dedicated audience (us). And... we really did get a useful piece of info out of it. All that adds up to me not minding as much.
(Spoken like a true marketing student, huh?)

It doesn't bother me at all. I can only imagine the costs of creating and maintaing something like this until the new season in October. So as long as no annoying pop-ups, I'm fine with it

I did think the Monster.com ad was a bit blatent, but I figured they had to pay to the 800# somehow...

I'm not so much bothered by the fact that Sprite is sponsoring - I just want to be able to figure out the difference between a plug and a clue - I spent a solid 20 min. anagraming sublymonal.

lol yeah you got a point there. I would then also rather have like a picture ad of sprite at the bottom or something, then incorporating sprite slogans in lost experience links and stuff. oh well.

I thought maybe there would be a clue on the sprite website, but I found nothing

Well, that's the game though. Figuring out what is a clue and what is not. What is meaningful and what is not.

My guess is that the next ad will be paid for by Monster.com since that was the only other "real" company that has appeared in the game besides Sprite. Maybe the commercial will announce a recruiting campaign for Hanso projects or something. They could add a "Join the Hanso Foundation" page on the Hanso website with open positions. That would be pretty cool.

Check out sublymonal.com, it has recently been updated. If you check out the Souce, you will find the message "Look on the Plane. Namaste". Then, when you enter "108" in the login provided, you will be able to hear DJ Dan's new podcast. I have links and recaps on my blog about the Sprite related stuff, but basically the ARG related stuff is the podcast and the message in the source code.
