Wow - I think this second mobisode was written post-strike. What horrible dialog. I got the impression Jorge was trying really hard not to laugh during the whole thing...

Weren't the Mobisodes supposed to "answer questions"? I thought that meant clues...

Weren't the Mobisodes supposed to "answer questions"? I thought that meant clues... I always thought they were just meant to be little short fun Lost moments. (Not like the "Lost Moments" from last season though.)

The new one was good, but it made Frogurt out to be a bad guy. That's the only thing that I didn't like.

It seems pretty obvious that all they are, are deleted scenes. Wasn't the original intent that it was suppose to be Hurley using a camcorder? I get a very strong feeling all the mobisodes are going to be the deleted scene section on Season 3's bonus feature DVD.

no - from what I understand, they are written separately from the shows. I believe Jorge has confirmed they were all written separately and were all ready to go prior to the strike, so they were doing all the shoots for them when he was writing about it.
Also, some certainly have the feel of a deleted scene, like the last chess one, but others, like the watch one akinda feel like separate little vignettes that don't seem really connected to any particular episode.

A way to test would be to try and match the mobisode with the actual episode. If Jack and Christian are dressed the same and their hair growth is similar and the background is exact to the original scene when Jack and Sarah got married, it would strongly support my thought that these are deleted scenes. We can even trace back when Hurley went to get the wine and Libby got the blankets in Mob 2. In Mob 3 again we have a frame of reference, when Jack was ready to leave the island, just before Kate, Sayid and Locke arrived.
The scenes so far are disjointed and have the feel of the season 1 DVD's deleted scenes.
On an aside, I can never figure why some scenes are deleted. The one that strikes me was when Claire and the pilot were speaking prior to leaving Australia. It show the warmth and humanity of the pilot. It would have made his death more upsetting because we got to know a little about him.

If "King of the Castle" is a deleted scene, I understand why they deleted it. I think it would have telegraphed the flash forward, and I'm sure they wouldn't want to risk lessening the surprise

For those who may have not gotten the reference, to Castle in chess is to move both the King and a rook simultaneously. It is only allowed under special circumstances and it can alter the strength of your position dramatically if played well. The last move shown is Ben castleing.
